Hickey roll bar

Hi. I recently picked up this roll bar from a fella who said it was out of a 72 blazer. I was mostly interested in the roll bar dome light, and thought I’d keep it if I ever got another blazer or jimmy.

It looks like the Hickey style, but there’s no sticker or marking to confirm that. I just assumed it was Hickey because it had the roll bar dome light that looked like the one in the old catalog.

My question is, What is the visible difference between a 69-72 hickey style roll bar and a 73 and up roll bar of the same style?

Thanks Vinnie

Re: Hickey roll bar

I think they are completely different. The rear uprights are shorter and at a harder angle. I will see if I still have pictures.

Re: Hickey roll bar

In the picture with the Hickey roll bar, what are the tabs halfway up the vertical bars with the hole in them? Is the bar connected to the side of the blazer on the inside of the cab when it is installed? I have one of these roll bars and didn't realize it was a Hickey brand, Mine is 1/2 inch away from the sides of my blazer side walls. Thanks in advance for the groups input.

Re: Hickey roll bar

I think that roll bar was stock GM for square body blazers and bolted to the body through the tabs.

The wheel tubs may be at different angles between '69-'72 and '73-'75, so the Hickey/aftermarket roll bar Vicente Aceves is asking about may only fit one generation of Blazer.

Re: Hickey roll bar

Do you know what the square tabs are for on the side of the roll bar? Seatbelts?

Bolts to the box sides behind the doors (improved how the doors closed on my '71 due to the extra stiffness).

They had a lens on eBay that was a match. I guess they used those lenses for other lights too.

Re: Hickey roll bar

The fun country’s came with my blazer. Two have never been mounted and the other two are on old wagons. Never been on a vehicle. 36.5s. They are so cool

Was any modification required to have the 73-75 roll bar fit into the 71?

Re: Hickey roll bar

No, other than the corrugations in the floor plates didn't line up with the corrugations in the '71 floor. Here are some old pictures from my test fit:
