I *think* it's a Dana 60 with 3.07 gears.

Anyone confirm?

Dana 60s are also 10 bolt, along with the Dana 70s.

Hollanders shows it as a Dana 44. 30060 is the part number for the gear. This is going to be an overkill(but easy to cut-n-paste) but the following is were Dana 44's were used that you could use the ring and pinion out of with your 3-series carrier if you wanted to change them:

I didn't think they put a 44 in the back. Guess I was wrong.

As for the '68 3/4 ton 4X4, It probably has the following:

Dana 44 closed-knuckle front, Corporate 10-bolt (H-052 or H-072) rear with 4.57 gears. At least that's going on what I have in my '68

Erl, according to Hollanders you front is a Dana 44 and your rear could be a Dana 60 or Corporate chevy. If the carrier is non- removable it is a Dana 60.

3.07 dana60 is his rear axle

dana44 were used in gmc trucks alot especially in 67

all 67-72 4x4 used dana44 fronts only, no matter series of truck, no dana60 til after 72 in front

all dana 44 and 60 are 10 bolt

eaton 3/4 ton and 1 ton axles are 10 bolt also

ckhd is correct and JJR has the listings and erl your front wil be a dana44 with 4.55 and either rear with 4.57, sometimes there was 4.56 ratio rear, probably is the dana60 ratio i bet, i owuld have to look.

front and rear ratios did not match on purpose, thats what they did from factory

Can you tell me what the 3.07 means in front of the Dana60? Does anyone know why the gear ratios were different on the front and back of a 4x4?

well 3.07 is the ratio, the driveshaft turns 3.07 times per revolution of the ring gear, IE axle shaft

dana44 has larger pinion gear stub diameter than our 12 bolt axle,s and also keep in mind that 3.07 and 3.54 and 3.40 gearsets are stronger than say 3.73 , 4.10 , 4.11, 4.57, etc

i wont get into details yet, unless i have to,. i wouldnt worry about the 44 coming apart, the shafts are stronger than the earleir versions are, and other series of dana axles cept the dana 60 ones, which are 30 and 35 spline, 44 are 30, most of them anyways, the later ones like ours

The 43-14 refers to the number of teeth on the ring gear and pinion respectively giving a ratio of 3.07 and a fraction.
