Re: Montana 70 Short Box

Hey all, can anyone translate the SPID in regards to the code 608 "Blue Vinyl Trim" I believe this references the interior colors. I am looking at recovering the seats and found a couple of resources but they list the color as Bright Blue or Dark Blue, I assume it is the Bright Blue in the Truck but would rather be safe that sorry.

Re: Montana 70 Short Box

Nice truck, the shortest option list I've ever seen with bucket seats. Looks like a nice solid MT truck for sure.

Re: Montana 70 Short Box

Hi all, yep a pretty short option tag, I love the buckets and wood box. I plan on keeping it pretty original, first off is a tune up, complete change of fluids etc. I plan keeping the original 6 lug setup and stock ride height, polishing the paint (for now) recovering the seats, replacing carpet, updating wood in box and driving it. pictures to follow!

Good to hear! Can't wait to see more of it. Nice to see that it still has it's original grille (many have been replaced over the years) and the one year only 1970 inner grille insert.

X2! I would just add this, maybe some orange valve covers and scrubbing the right front hubcap with a very wet SOS pad. That green stuff ( oxidized copper ) on cap is a dead giveaway it is the original chrome over brass cap.

Re: Montana 70 Short Box

Hey All, I received a set of Rally wheels with the truck when I bought it. I rolled a couple of them up to the cab yesterday to get a look at the possible change. I would be adding 275/60/15 on all four corners. Thoughts?

Re: Montana 70 Short Box

I say go for it, those wheels look nice on these trucks.

I prefer some lowering combined with the 275/60's but they look ok at stock height too.

Re: Montana 70 Short Box

Unless you plan on adding power steering to the truck those 275's will be a bear to drive with. I''ve had 255/70 15's on 15 x8 rallys and on a stock height truck work great and fill in the wheel wells nicely.

Re: Montana 70 Short Box

This truck proves it's possible to order bucket seats in the standard trim level (no CST or custom deluxe option)?? Does your truck have a rubber floor mat?

Hi Steve, no rubber mat, it has carpet and as you probably already know the carpet continues up the back of the cab covering the gas tank as well.

Ah makes sense. Any truck that got ordered with buckets would also get full carpeting.

Very cool score. I'd do exactly what you plan to do to it, and probably not much more other than add gas and drive.
