rear suspension

64 gmc .I dropped my rear suspension 7 inches ,do i need to install the c-notch i bought already or would air shocks be sufficient with out c-notch ,right now i have about 1 inch of travel on suspension before rear end hit bump stops . I would like to load my softail harley deuce in the box in the future it weighs about 700 lbs .

With 1 inch of travel unladen, you need to notch it. I'd imagine if you bounced on the rear of the truck your body weight would bottom it out currently and you probably weigh a lot less than the motorcycle does.

What exactly did you do to lower it 7”.
Drop springs, and lowering blocks?
Did you add an adjustable track bar?
Did you add rear shock relocators?

Personally I would add the c-notch and swap out the coil springs for some 2600 air bags on schrader valves. Then you can air up any time you need to haul anything. Plus you would be able to use quality shocks.
I’m not a fan of air shocks.

Thanks for the quick reply .I got lowest spring i could get plus 2 inch blocks and shocks re-locators bracket installed ,love my stance now but no suspension and i wanna be able to load my deuce in the back of the truck if i need too , i know you suppose to c-knotch below 5 inch but heard that i may get away without c-notch if i use air shocks .Just wondering if anybody use air shocks before and i didnt have the bike when i did my suspension .Thanks fellas

With only 1" of travel, air shocks won't help enough

C Notch and air bags. Even if you do what I call a pipe notch, you gain at least 2 more inches of travel without cutting into the floor. I would also box the frame in that area for more strength.
