Re: 69 SLED Finally To Paint and Body!

The Sled is no longer at the body shop! Picked it up and 5 minutes down the road it started overheating! The electric fans were not coming on! Drove it back and they started chasing wires...no luck. Until the guy reminded me that I had taken out all of the interior...including the gauge cluster (that I restored). I was like...so what? Guy looking at me like I was a dumbass - Dude the dash / temp gauge powers the electric fans. DOH! Wife came back and we ran and got the cluster then headed back. Plugged it in and bam...electric fans!
Here, before the mechanic had the epiphany, we are standing there having no clue.

Re: 69 SLED Finally To Paint and Body!

Even drove it last night an hour north from home to a Lacrosse game. Sure felt good getting it back on the road. Since I re-geared the rear end it really enjoys the highway! I parked pretty close to the exit to the parking lot and as the game before our game finished and the families were leaving the stadium a funny thing happened. As each family walked in the direction of the Sled every Dad peeled off and went to look at it. It was pretty funny!
Anyhow...Snug as a bug!

Re: 69 SLED Finally To Paint and Body!

First road trip since getting the Sled back...
Still running like a top! Love that it is so happy sitting at 74/75mph for hours.

We went down to the Rio Grande Valley for a few days and then hit SpaceX at Boca Chica! My oldest wants to try to get a job there - What better place for a young man who is all about blowing things up to find out what broke!

Re: 69 SLED Finally To Paint and Body!

I mistakenly turned into the actual launch pad site - sorry!
Guard was pretty cool about it after he went on about loving my old Burd...

You can see my green hood and I had to keep going forward before I could turn around - which put us about 30 feet from the Star Ship! Didn't get another picture, but the boys were freaking out being so close to it!

Man!....I can't get over how perfect the stance is on your truck. Everything looks perfect!

Re: 69 SLED Finally To Paint and Body!

Thanks Fellas'...
Swabby - one of the things I often stop and admire about my Burb is the symmetry of its stance from all angles. The height of the lift and the width and size of the 33" tires work well together...not too tall in the front or squatty in the rear or vise versa. The shop that changed out the suspension got it right!

Re: 69 SLED Finally To Paint and Body!

It really is perfect. Given that mine is a C20 and not a K20, I have delusions of some day putting a Roadster Shop ($$$) RS4 chassis under it with a nice set of 33's to end up with a similar stance. I also really like the monotone as opposed to the two tone you often see....has me reconsidering my plans to only repaint the areas that need rust repair.

Re: 69 SLED Finally To Paint and Body!

How to paint it actually became kind-of a big deal to me. I had it in my mind to do a two tone - off white top and maybe the 504 on the bottom.
But it was my 4 boys that made me keep it "stock" and paint it like it came from the factory.
I'm really glad I listened to them!

Re: 69 SLED Finally To Paint and Body!

These were the 2 options for a two tone scheme I was considering before the boys put their collective foot down!

I like the single color, the boys were right.
