Painted Bumpers

Hello, I have a 2007 GMC I am getting ready to sell. The truck has aftermarket black painted bumpers front and rear. The type you see a lot in the south, I would call the front a cow pusher/grill protector type.
The bumpers look a little ratty from time and sunlight, the paint is getting a little thin with light surface rust on a few edges.
I thought about removing them and possibly stripping them and repainting. But now am reconsidering that and may just clean well, scuff with a 3m pad, sand the few rusted areas, and repaint on the truck.
So my question is what paint to use? I could spray with puff cans if there is a product that is of high quality, or I could roll with a small foam roller.
Thoughts from folks here would be appreciated.

Re: Painted Bumpers

Thanks, I have been considering rolling on Hurculiner. I did that on an old 99 Blazer S-10 that I had once. It had nice red paint with faded out black bumpers. It helped and held up well.
I've also been looking at POR 15 paint.

POR 15 is not UV friendly.
It will fade out unless you use a topcoat.

Krylon (Fusion) hammer finish paint is good,
If a rattle can paint job is all you are looking for.

Re: Painted Bumpers

If your selling, I would just scuff and paint. A lot of potential buyers might not want bedliner on the bumpers. Its probably not that easy to remove.

Re: Painted Bumpers

That is true, once the bedliner is on there it is going to stay there.
My son thinks I should find stock bumpers for it, because he thinks those bumpers may turn off some buyers.
I'm not interested in that expense! They were on there when I bought it out of Dallas in 2015.

Re: Painted Bumpers

I've had good luck with SEM or Eastwood chassis black epoxy paints in aerosol cans. Good luck! :-)

Re: Painted Bumpers

Well I settled on a Hurculiner kit. Bought a gallon and only used 1/3 of it, turned out well. The front is still drying in my shop, then I will put the grill, headlights and turn signals back on. I also ditched the tube running boards.
I'll post after pics.
