My '74 can of worms (Green Machine)

Like always these projects take a life of their own....

I've done so much to this thing and now im finally reassembling it (my shop is moving to a better area, so i need to get this rolling.

I por15 the entire frame with a little green sparkle added for something different, came out better than i was thinking.

383, TCI 700r4, captn fab rear brake hardware with willwood components and a rebuilt hydroboost pump found from a K10.

Rearend is a 12bolt with Yukon

Suspension is Ridetech all the way around. Kept the leafs in the back, dont wanna deal with 4link mods.

Waiting for Summit to put Edelbrock ProFlo4 back on sale so i can pull the BPE Holley fuel crap off. Have a Mutha Thumper roller cam that'll be going in here pretty quick.

Anyway, these are my most recent pics...

** see below for pix

Re: My '74 can of worms.

Nice work, that green is awesome, what paint is it?

I think the sideways pics has something to do with the orientation of the cellphone when you take the pics.

Thank you

The green on the truck is called Galatic Green (i think) and the parts are all powdercoat. Its been a while, i forget the name. But, its better looking than the paint.

Re: My '74 can of worms.

Look at these part numbers 3907838 3907837 One is left and one is right. Says they fit suburbans from 1984-1991, but I think the suburban cross shafts are the same as the other squarebodies. You'd have to research that.

Not sure if they are correct but they sure look like them.

What's wrong with yours?

Thank you! I swear i typed in every combination of words for those brackets!

Whoever had dreams for this truck had already pulled these off and one is taco'd pretty good. They had weird mismatched bolts as the centering pins, a somehow did some strange work on the crossmenber where they mount.

Glad i caught all this before i started my frontend reassembling...

Thanks again!

No problem, we discussed these things way back when I first got on the board. Some people use sockethead cap screws for the centering pins. Not sure what size.

Re: My '74 can of worms.

I've never done it but supposedly it is worth the effort to get rid of a bunch of shims.

Thank you

I did not buy any. We were able to massage the 2 on the vice. Paint and all good!

Whoever did the work before me didnt even have the alignment holes on the cross shaft "locked" in anyway... a modification was needed regardless to get the control arms to set in the pocket....
