Fantastic reference photo thank you very much 👍

I am curious if someone has just cut the snorkel off of the original air cleaner? I have a 75 Corvette that was missing the original dual snorkel air cleaner someone cut the end off of a single snorkel as a replacement. I am sure that someone determined that a 396 would not be able to breathe through the original air cleaner myself included, that’s why I have the air cleaner lid flipped over on my trucks 😀

That's what I thought as well when I first inspected it. I will get better photo's but what threw me is the outer end of the snorkel is flared out ever so slightly exhibiting a termination.

Mopar did things like that. Painted inner fenders and hood undersurface body color too. Bless their hearts.

You could start a mopar thread in the “other” section. As long as it doesn’t distract you from posting more pics of black beauty…

I'm already on 4 other Mopar sites. I will stick to actually learning something new.

That snout looks a bit longer than mine in that angle. What did it come off of?

Just an example of the one that someone had cut off.

Looking at the snorkel on my truck's air cleaner housing, I'm not so sure it's like the one you posted, after all. Is the entry on yours completely round? Mine is oval, and bells out to about 2-7/8" X 2-1/2". Pretty sure that it is the original.

That 4whd Concorde with the built in CB was all the rage! My dad bought my older brother a gorgeous t-top Monte Carlo and he wrecked it within a month.

When my brother cried about it Dad got him another car. A completely rusted out 6 cyl LEVIS GREMLIN.

This video (around the 3:00 mark) shows what I believe to be an original 69 C10 396 engine compartment. This was a truck I should have purchased a while back, but let get away.

It's a '70, but it's just like the snout posted in the video in post #223. Except that one is a lot nicer.

Just a thought, have you taken a bore scope and peeked into the A pillars or the top of the cab between the sheets?

For me it would be interesting to see if any paint or primer got into those areas as they tend to be the most problematic. ESP on a truck of this caliber.

Appears to be a nice truck. The A6 compressor is on the opposite side of the engine than mine. Why? And I have those same sideview mirrors that a few here have said are not original to a 69? I'm pretty sure that air cleaner 396 decal with crossed flags is NOT original. But I agree, You should have bought it😄

Once I have the truck back you can bet my inspection will be tighter than Dick's hat band. Sorry youngsters, that was a phrase used long ago. 😄
