not a big update but i sanded down and painted my calipers. heres a few pics...

hey guys, i got a quick question. im putting some of my front end stuff back together, just waiting on the rotors which i can get next week. im puttin gmy uca's back on and i kinda forgot how they went lol. i have this pic when i took it all off, and if you notice the right side of the arm is kinda curved, so i was going to put it back on this way..

until i seen this one...(slick67, hope you dont mind!)

if i put it on like this...then mine has the curve on the left side, but the bumpstump hole is also on the left side as the above pic.

when i was putting it back on i was going by the bumpstop hole in that picture until i looked back at the picture i took when i took it off. so was mine on wrong or is there something wrong with the one in the pic?

also, my passenger side arm came with 2 shims (fork style) on the left side, 0 on the right. when i looked at my driver side, it had 0 on the left and 1 on the right. is this ok?

Well mine looks curved to the rear ... but I am not sure if there might be an advantage to swapin them, if it was done on purpose.

thats exactly what mine look like. i was waiting on a response so i can tighten them up lol. just waiting on some lca u bolts and my rotors and i can put it all back together. i did get the front bags back in and ran the front lines. working on the gauge line today...maybe some pics later today or tomorrow!

might there be a camber and/or alignment issue with switching the uppers like the Bagged photo shows ?

i would think so, or something would be out of line when bolting up the spindle.

well some progress! i got everything painted and slapped on to get a look of how it will be on the ground, and to see if my switches and everything are right. thanks to hottrucks for walking me through wiring up the toggle switch and relay!

i did have one problem, the front driver side air bag leaks, so i will have to take that bag down to see where its coming from. also, my rear bags push over A LOT when its aired out. heres some pics!

before the 2 1/2" drop and spindles, and cupped lca's..

the axle is maybe about an inch off of center, but its still pushed over to far i think. im thinking this double adj. panhard bar isnt long enough. i tried to set it up at about 40 psi in the rear, which im guessing should be ride height. when i fully air everything up, it maxes out at about 70 psi, just raises the fenders about even with the top of tire, if not and inch into the fenders is all this right?

i still need to fully tighten up the suspension, thanks to scoti for helping me get the right bearings for the rotors also!

i did want to move my rear bags over to get a few more inches and still keep the ta setup..so i was thinking of doing something like this..

or this..

what bag brackets would i need for this?

hey Kev look'n good the ony thing is that on you cupped LCA you need to remove the rest of the bump stop bracket ( trust me) and make sure the top edge of he welded in cup is Smooooth...when the bag has air in it there will be some tention against the top edge and it will rub a hole in the bag ( I built the same cup)

also move your track bar to the back of your trailing arm..you need to make that bar as long ad you can because of the amount of travel...do what I did tack it up than bring it to your buddy to weld it up..the longer the bar the less side travel

CHANGE OUT your wires I looked at your pics and it maybe ok today but your going to have an issue later...the last thing you want is to try to get under it and fix something later ( grounds are ok)...

don't forgrt the foil beanie trick either...lol

that wire size is over kill..and isn't designed o be out in the weather it will wick water in...also I think you have slide on connectors...be sure to put some grease on these they will get nasty looking and the connection will be crap...there is not time like not to address this stuff...you can hate me now or later when I say I told you so

oh ok. what kind of grease goes on it? I was gonna put that liquid tape u brush on that u were tellin me about.

and u mean the white wire is overkill? not sure what kind it is but its 12 gauge. changing that one out isn't too big of a problem. I would like to color code it anyways. should i change it to 14 gauge?

kev that brush on is good where yo make the crimp connectoer but on the part that slides on you should get some dielelectric grease or pput some white grease on them

the main feed to your relay should be a #12 but if your using that red wire to goto your dash switch panel I would question it...think about that flat 4 trialer wire like we talked about...it lays flat and is prebundled so it makes it easy to route though the truck and its color coded for yea

the red wire only goes to the battery. i have the 12 wire running to the battery also for the toggle, and also on the pressure switch.

where could i buy some of that dieelectric grease or white grease?

oh, i also fixed the leak in the front bag, the line was loose. i grew a pair and pushed the line in all the way and it stopped, so now im getting about 120 psi on full air up.

Lookin' good Kev. If you move the bag in front of the axle you should gain the height of the compressed bag. That should put the trailing arm on the frame. I don't have a bag to measure , but it's about three inches.

white grease is the stuff you use on hindges like for your doors...

you should never need the 120 psi...air it up and leave it @ ..say..50 and make sure it stays there

Kev also if you wanted to see how much you could gain pull the bag out but yea the bag is 3" you may run into tire clearance issues...like the sidewall rubbing the outside of the body??

sounds good, ill probably get this panhard bar set first and i really need to roll this thing on some level ground lol. i need to see how much further down the front is than the rear. i think i would rather have a rake look to it than the back squatting....

well right now the tire already goes up into the body area by an inch or 2

so the grease i can find at o reilly right? i just aired it up that high so the bags can have to most pressure i can put in to check for leaks...checked again now and still no loss of air

im gonna talk with jeff at cpp to see if i can change out this panhard bar, its about 4-5 inches too short with it fully extended. and i threw my original one away! gay...

rolled the truck back today so i get the motor on the stand and start cleaning it up.

heres a shot of the truck again..

now the motor. i was told its a 305 from a 78 malibu, 30k miles on the rebuild. im just gonna clean it up and paint it black and silver, bought some aluminum valve covers and air cleaner, still need to get the basic stuff like water pump, gaskets, plugs, wires, etc. also got a skip white hei distributor going in.

will be cleaning it up this week hopefully and start assembling next week maybe

im hoping within a month. it should be cleaned up and ready to drop in within a few weeks, then i have to pull the old one out. still need a new tank and fuel pump, i dont trust the one thats in there lol

Kev chec out the wrinkle black from VHT?? I think thats the brand?? I got it at auto zone?? anyway I used it on my caddy block an it came out great..pics don't do it justice!! you know I dig the black and silver with chrome...my engine theme was to make it look like a Harley engine...and its close!!
