No you don't need hi temp paint on the air cleaner. Only the exhaust. Even the engine block and heads don't get hot enough to use special paint. If your engine is over 240 degrees you have problems. I painted my engine with 2 stage paint. Base coat, clear coat and it is fine. Been on there for 9 years.
