Grandpa's 1968 K20
Hi,I just starting working on my grandfathers deer hunting truck. My 15 year old dotter wants to drive it. My uncle owned it and hit a power pole with it.. I plan on keeping the truck but need to get the cab water tight and back to one color in about a year. Thanks for looking, Dennis.. p.s. It did drive off the trailer.

Looks like a great start. By "watertight" I hope you don't mean zero water into the cab, because you always seem to get some through the door wndows when you wash them, and down through the bottom of the doors. Keep us posted on your progress and welcome to the board!

Re: Grandpa's 1968 K20
i would pull the front window to check how much rust has found its way on to the metal.... other than that you should be water tight... unless all that leaking made it rust onto the lower kick panels and the floor, thats one of the worst case senerios....

Re: Grandpa's 1968 K20
have you checked to see if the frame can be straightened and then realigned? if not then what are you gonna put underneath? k20 again or a 1/2 ton frame?

Re: Grandpa's 1968 K20
It can all be fixed. That is cool your daughter at so young of age is so interested in driving these old trucks. So cool to keep this lifestyle alive for those who lived back in those days driving not knowing what they truly have.

Have you done anything with the truck in the last 4 years?

Re: Grandpa's 1968 K20
yes I straighten the frame myself using a forklift and an old tiedown anchor in a shop that used to be a body shop.. I striped a bunch of the paint off to find a bunch of old repairs and lots of bondo.. I have it over with a guy is doing a side job for me on the bodywork and paint. the engines over the machine shop getting bored out and balanced.now I'm pondering the idea of whether I want aluminum heads off of ebay for the same price is rebuilding cast heads.
