Re: The build date project

Great additions! Friday is the day, I’m going to sit down and get everything 100% up to date. My apologies for falling behind, life gets in the way sometimes.

12/10/71 --I'm pretty certain this one is 12/10/71. I also think this helps confirm that 2Z128188 (in post #115) is 12/10/71, which was a Friday. Was the factory shutdown on the weekends (it appears that way based on spot checking a few dates)? If so, I think that rules out Dec 11, 12, 18,& 19 as possible 12/1x dates.

Re: The build date project

Updated to post 225 today. More to come soon. Thanks for all the work you’ve put into this John!
The last vin in post 232 is confusing. I would say it’s a misprint on one side or the other. We can add it to both plants with a note on the side, maybe a vin will come along that will nail it down one way or the other.

Here's an interesting one--the protecto-plate's build date (4 for April) doesn't match the build month on the build sheet.
70 chevy
0A135688
03/25/70

72 chevy
2F138206
01/07/72<build date<01/21/72

Another odd one...
68 chevy
8T119313
Even though it shows January build month, it appears the engine was built February 1st.

What the heck, you live on a ranch full of Chevy trucks? That's an impressive number of tags and build sheets.

I wonder how many guys picked up their build dates because of this effort? Count me as one, though last I looked it was within a few days.

Lol most of it is just looking a little closer when looking at trucks online. I've been (happily) sucked into this project and see it as a fun challenge.

I do know of a few spots I haven't been able to go to personally where I think I can get a lot of door tag pics...Speaking of that, if anyone goes junkyarding, please take some blue door sticker pics!

Lol You both have contributed nicely to this. There’s several vins that have been definitively nailed down already and I really hope this continues in the future.

06/67 based on "T" for June. However, engine, transmission, and rear axle all have August build dates. Something doesn't seem right with this one... Edit: I believe June is correct based on the 7S truck in post #246.

68 chevy suburban
8Z142621
Pre-04/02/68

68 gmc

68 chevy 50th

See post #219 for document reference:
"Date received" = 05/(2x)/68... Refers to order date?
"estimated date of production" = 06/15/68
Maybe a "7" for build month on POP?
Worst case pre 8/06/68
