How do I remove the chrome strip of trim that is below the back window on the back of my 72 cab that wraps from side to side ? And are the repops worth buying?

I took mine off with a flat style Blue Point interior panel puller/flat prybar. the trim attaches to small studs that are factory welded to the cab. I couldn't find any repop's that are worth a crap, There are still Quite a few OEM's around though from part outs. I'm sure you could find one on the forum group with ease. I ground the studs off of my 72 when I removed the drip rails, and repaired my windshield opening from rust issues. But I'm going the non-original route with my build, it all depends on what you want to do with your truck build. I.M.O., that little chrome strip on these trucks is the most P.I.T.A. trim pieces to remove. Expect 45 years worth of dirt built up underneath of it as well, so a good power wash as good as you can around that area will help a good bit.

There is a plastic connector fastened to one of the studs that John mentions right by the drip rail and then another one just that side of the curve of the cab...I used a plastic pry too, but just popped the trim off the plastic connectors in the two spots I mentioned...then I just slid the divider trim half straight out off the remaining connectors on the back of the cab, keep an eye on that little piece where the two divider trim halves join, remove the little piece, and then do the same for the opposite side.

I ruined the plastic clips near the drip rail popping the trim off. They were old and brittle. Some of the ones on the back disintegrated upon removing them from the studs too.

I'll ask my old wolfdog. He popped mine loose years ago while climbing into the cab through the rear slider.

Sorry, I am no help at all. He seems to have forgotten. He was going to the vet to get snipped and he was a bit anxious.
