Re: kick down on a turbo 400??
Kick down was a switch on the carburetor linkage. When they went to cable throttle, it got moved under the dash

Do you have a pic of the carb linkage on the drivers side?

Re: kick down on a turbo 400??
My 68 Impala had a TH400 setup similar to the one circled in red in FirstOwner69's post in the thread linked by geezer#99. Mine was a 327 with a Q-jet.
The wires came in from the back near the firewall. Don't remember exactly, been too long. |

Re: kick down on a turbo 400??
There are some differences in the linkage on the carb that determine whether the carb is originally for a turbo 400 or not.
A pic would help. |

Re: kick down on a turbo 400??
All looks normal for a t-400.
I wanted to see if the turbo 350 linkage was hacked off and it seems to be. Info in here in section ‘choosing a carb’. https://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/Quadrajet |
