First, I blamed the fuel cap...
...because when I switched to the right side tank, the truck would start to chug after a mile or so (at least it didn't die). I figured the cap was wrong or something. Then the fuel level started acting up so I couldn't trust the gauge.
(All I was trying to do was use up a full tank of gas I foolishly filled without checking things out.)  Well, enough reasons accumulated and the nice weather finally showed up, so I pulled the bed off the truck and started in on my list of repairs/stuff. When it came to replacing all the little short lengths of fuel line (one of the list items), I was greeted by flakes of "dryness" at the center opening (vent) of the three fuel tubes on the sender. Uh oh. Imagine my surprise when I pulled the sending unit out to have a look. Mystery solved! New goods on order:
