Fuel Selector Switch Hole Size

I have searched and searched and can't find the answer. What size is the newer style selector switch hole supposed to be in the dash? I cannot be the only person who has cut one in!! HAHAHA

My guess is 1 3/4" x 1"

I posted a dimensional pic in here about a year ago. Don't know if Hatzie kept it or not. It was on a similar thread. Is this the one you're looking for?

Yes, do you know the measurements by chance?

Re: Fuel Selector Switch Hole Size

Don't know where I put the drawing I had but.... it is 1'' wide. 1.445 tall and the small notch on the top is .515 wide and the lower notch is .410- both centered. The height/depth of the notches I cannot really measure, but I went really slow with a small flat file until the switch snapped it snug--somewhere around 1/8 to 3/16s

Re: Fuel Selector Switch Hole Size

If you're cutting the switch into the dash, and aren't worried about originality, it would make a lot more sense to install the switch in the horizontal position. That way, you're actually flipping the switch left to right, instead of up to down.

The bezel would need to be re-inked somehow, to reflect the new orientation.

You asked if a drawing existed in the dual tank thread.

Did you post the drawing in the 67-72 section?

RTFM... GM Parts Books, GM Schematics, GM service manuals, and GM training materials...Please include at least the year and model in your threads. It'll be easier to answer your questions.
And please let us know if and how your repairs were successful.

You know...I really don't remember, this topic goes back and forth between 2-3 different sections. What frustrates me is that I cannot find it in my own computer. That's why I gave dimensions in text in the previous post. I went out and measured the hole in the dash
