Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

68Gold/white

I got my 50th Custom Camper a couple months ago. It has the original seat under two other covers... Here's a link with a few more pics.

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

I have a 50th that I bought about 5 years ago from a fellow list member.

C20, 396, Turbo 400, Factory Air, power steering, hydro boost brakes. Real nice driving truck. I believe it to be a survivor with just over 90,000 miles and original paint. It is a Custom Camper.

Here is photo when I bought it.

And I lowered it this last fall and dropped the hub caps. A little less 'farm'....

The gold flooring was cracked when I bought it and I was told that they do not reproduce the rubber floor in gold. The previous owner had bought a carpet kit for me and gave it to me when I bought the truck on the condition that I would install it! So I did.

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

Your truck is a real beauty, but I like the "pre-lowered" stance better. sorry

Thanks and no problem, not everyone is liking the new stance, especially my wife. It is just a set of springs and they can be swapped back in.

She's a little rough around the edges....lol

Overall not to bad for a truck that spent its entire life in Indiana. 2nd Owner, 112,000 miles, org drivetrain, 307 w th400 with edelbrock top end (org intake, carb, exhaust manifolds and valve covers included). Also Indiana inspection tags, protecto plate, manual, etc......And the org caps (take offs)

Floor and lower outer is crispy, but upper cab, firewall, windshield frame is all V solid!

Needs some tlc to the brakes and a little clean up and shell be a driver till my 67 is done at which point it will be restored...(Knew there was a reason I was hording all this NOS stuff....lol)

And a few pics for your viewing pleasure..

Yea, I thought it was a decent deal also. I tried to ask some questions about it, and he wasn't that interested in selling it. He wouldn't give me the keys to even look inside. He must of been having a bad day or something, because the guy was a jerk lol

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

I was watching that truck on eBay, it seemed like a pretty nice one. The one thing that turned me off about it was the primered spots on it, plus I think I would be a little nervous buying something sight unseen. I'd be curious to see some better pics of the truck though once you get it.

If you check closer I think you will find that it is a Custom Camper instead of a Camper Special.

maybe he was embarrassed because someone took a picture before he could remove the 8-350 engine callout from below the rear side marker lamp... (ha. very nice truck, but that weird location makes me wonder if it's truly a custom camper, cst, etc - or even a 50th. But, it is a 68 k20, and it's very nice).

I added a personalized plate to my truck.

Don’t think I have to explain it here.

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

I am restoring two 50th Longhorns and have a bunch of literature on the 50th trucks. Some from Chevrolet in the form of a 35mm slide presentation that was to be used by the dealerships.

Re: 50th Golden Anniversary Trucks

I read a post...probably a very old one where someone was saying there was a 50th in a junkyard for $350...and they were questioning about whether or not to buy it. I can't find the message now...
