I saw this the other day on face book. Anybody else seen it. It maybe old but first I saw of it. Lots of reactions on it for the price but for a super nice build I bet people would want it.
This is what the add say:
New for 2021 - All new steel GM Truck Cabs with Doors NOW IN PRODUCTION. Introductory price of $12k. All the options - large/small window, large/small hump floor, firewall options. Better than factory gaps, minimum body work. Call us today to get yours on order now.

I saw it earlier in the year, seems pretty high to me, for reference I’ve seen new complete aftermarket 1st Gen Camaro tubs for about the same price. Whole lot more metal in the Camaro tub than a truck cab. Granted the Camaro stuff has been out a lot longer.

Things have gotten more expensive but you can still get a lot of bodywork done for 12 grand!

I find I'm personally pushing away from the table on the ol "it's worth it if someone will pay it" mindset... $12K can buy a lot of things, including a running truck.

Find a decent cab that needs floor/rocker/cab corner work. Good cowl and roof and just put a whole floor in. Mostly GM steel and way less money. That would only be worth it for a loaded truck like a short box Super Cheyenne that needed everything. Even then a used replacement used cab usually brings a lot of extra parts.

If it came with a title and VIN plate, maybe. Still a lot of money for it. I'd buy 4-5 cabs and piece them together before I spent 12K.

I'm a believer in "Buy it new if available", but for $12K they need to include a set of doors pre hung with hinges and latches.

That is what I consider a complete cab. And the labor you save would make it worth the price. You can buy all the panels and sections from them but you still have to build it straight and that is no small task.

Sure would be nice to not have to deal with rust.

This was on Craigslist I don't know how to copy and paste but the advertised price is $8,500 all new sheet metal. Still a lot of money but all new.

By next year they will be $6,000.00 and you still have to deal with title / vin swap / DMV and rosette rivets off ebay , A part like that is going to have a ton of retailers fast and costs will drop . look at the hoops buyers of dynacorn bodies have to jump thru

Lets see , After market cab/ doors/ front clip/ bed/ frame/engine/trans/wheels/ tires/ interior and all you end up with is a VERY EXPENSIVE CLONE. with a vintage vin plate ?

A well built vehicle made of re-pop parts is not better than an 'original' that's held together w/poor repairs, Bondo, & some lipstick??

If one possesses the work space, tools, equipment, & ability to do full sheet-metal repairs, it makes sense to do so. But what about the others that don't & have to rely on a shop to do it for them? Paying for rust repairs/panel replacement isn't that much cheaper & usually they'll be using re-pop pieces for the repairs or 'winging' it. For a similar price, I'll take a well built truck w/re-pop parts over a hacked original.

Some are never happy. If the resto parts vendors didn't offer body panels, people would ask why. When they offer them, people act like there is no need.
I think the price will come down.
I have seen what has been bought as a claimed straight,rust free cab, That when it shows up After buying it for 1500 and shipping of 700, it needing 3k+ in body work not including paint prep, just fixing the rust that was said it didn't have and making it ready for paint.

There are a measure of people out there that this will appeal to. I'm getting to be an old man and I've learned that there truly is a butt for every seat in this world.

By the time prices stabilize at 6-8k dollars. dudes will be snapping them up. They can buy it today and expedite a truck project timeline by months by avoiding rust repair or waiting for a shop to do it for them.

As to the VIN issues, with a little privacy and a rivet gun, dudes will handle that too.

Or just remove a large portion of the door post and transplant it to the new cab Leaving the original rivits intact .

Not getting into the ethics of it . But at what point does an original cab become aftermarket? Seen some restos where there ain't much left of the original car/truck.

I'm one of the weirdos who might be interested in one of these new cabs. I see the price is about $7500 now. I want to do a second, but complete and correct no-expense-spared restoration back to factory original on my '71. The cab has been rebuilt and bastardized twice, there were at least two serious accidents, and rust repairs (some good and some bad) and it just won't cut it for a showroom new restoration. If I could find a decent cab and doors and do minor rust repair I would, but I have been actively searching for a cab for several years and it's all garbage these days. I could pop for this and be way ahead on the build.

They are pricey no doubt. I’ve been working on my truck for a few years now. My cab is 100% all original. 1972 AC short bed Cheyenne titled cab. For 12k, I’d consider selling it...
