Computer mounting

Ok I know this may have been asked before but cannot find specific pictures of under the hood firewall mounting. I know in cab would be ideal but I will be mounting mine under the hood on the firewall somewhere. I do have vintage air install so it does limit space to drill thru firewall. Anyone have pics of what they did? Getting to the final stages of wiring so I can finally fire this thing up.

Re: Computer mounting

It's not what you want to here, and it probably won't work because of your A/C, but I took this:

and mounted it here:

using this bracket I make for the ECM:

Just buttoning it up actually.

Re: Computer mounting

if you still have the plastic snap in bracket that the pcm used, you can screw it the inner fender and snap it in. if you dont have it, go get one from an s10.

Re: Computer mounting

Yeah I have vintage air on one side and brake booster on other. I have the plastic snap in for computer but with ac lines and such seems too big for inner fender and of course want to keep up and out of weather as much as possible. Guess I didn’t think this one thru before doing all the other work. 🤷🏼*♂️

I have put 10 lbs of stuff in 5 lb bags before. on my gmc the computer went between the battery and the firewall, below the HVAC

here is a couple better pictures from the last chevy I did.

that computer is made to be in the engine compartment by the way, doesnt really need protected, the plugs have gaskets on them.

Re: Computer mounting

Thanks for the pics. I am thinking I will be able to mount it here on my firewall. The spot will allow me to drill holes and bolt the holder on there for computer. Then will have room to still mount the fuse box for the LS harness above this.

Re: Computer mounting

Don't worry so much about "out of the weather." In our fleet vans the pcm is below the brake booster and master cylinder. After 300k miles there's so much garbage covering the pcm you can't even tell its there.

Please use a plastic bracket or plastic spacers when mouting the pcm. The case is aluminum so bolting to a steel panel with steel or stainless steel fasteners immediately begins to create corrosion. Using nylon spacers to prevent aluminum to steel contact is a good idea.
