As far as the air cleaner, the lid appears to be correct but I don't ever remember seeing that type of air horn base on these trucks. It reminds me of a passenger car base. The base that I think it should have has a longer horn that is usually oriented towards the left side of the engine. Also, the base would not have a provision for a heat riser for 69.
I think I have a air cleaner assembly that came off a 69 396 that I can take a picture of and post here.

He’s using a long water pump, which puts the AC compressor on the driver side and the alternator on the passenger side. Different brackets and pulleys are used, they are not original to these trucks, so I doubt the engine is original to the truck. The mirrors are 71/72, the ralleye wheels are from a 73-up. Still a very nice truck and I wouldn’t kick it out of bed for eating crackers.

I'm enjoying this saga. Dmoore, glad you could join us for a bit while you get this truck sorted. Watch out, you may see one of these out there and decide it needs to be your shop truck. And any of your Mopars that you want to post pictures of would be cool. Lots of threads take side tracks, plus it's your thread anyway. That also gives us some background on what you do. I'm more preservation than restoration, but it's cool to see somebody else's approach.

Thank you LT7A, Being a Mopar guy I knew right off the bat I needed to find a spot where the knowledge was. Being on 3 or 4 other Mopar forums I really didn't want to create another username/password but how else would I be getting all this great info!? I am a preservationist as well. I specialize in low mile Mopar muscle cars and have owned more than my fair share. To me it's not just the car but actually how that car was built, the documentation, the story behind it, all owner's etc. Most guy's are in the same boat, I just take it to extreme. I do a full background history leaving no stone unturned. Some people think I'm crazy. Oh well.

Even I have a Mopar. It likes to tag along behind when we go camping. It has a very close "attachment"

to the truck as we motor down the highway.

True, accessories are not listed on SPID. Either added when new by the dealer or, very often, the owner goes back to the GM dealership a year or two later and adds on what their neighbor has ( the Jones')

Wow, good eye. Obviously the wheels are obvious, haha. But I scrolled back up thinking I had missed an underhood picture. And it took me a little bit to see where you saw the headers.

I am a dyed in the wool Mopar guy and I like it! Those wheels are wide! Black vehicles in general are harder to find because black shows dirt and is hotter.

So I received the beautiful restored S/S hub caps yesterday only to find out they fit very loose on those aftermarket rims. After being told by the company Road Ready Wheels they would fit with no problem. The issue is there should be 4 prominent bumps or protrusions made into these rims. There are only two of these I would call "raised" the other two are barely a high spot. I am more than pissed. So what can be done now short of building up a weld line and grinding that down until the caps fit tight?
