New American Standard TV ad?

Have you guys seen this bit of foolishness?
As a testament to it's ability to "not-clog" they show it flushing a bucket of golf balls. There is a disclaimer saying not to do this at home, but everybody knows that someone who would do this wouldn't read that.
It may have been a long time ago, but I was a kid once and still remember part of it. I just know that a kid would see this as a challenge.
It just seems irresponsible to me? Why would they show this? Disclaimer or not, as a parent, I would be pissed (no pun intended) if my kid suddenly got the idea to start test-flushing random stuff.

Re: New American Standard TV ad?

I haven't seen the ad, but I actually installed three of the toilets that claim they can flush 16 golf balls about five years ago, because I have a large family and I got tire of clearing toilets. Since then, we've only had one clog, and I made my son clear that and told him he needed more fiber in his diet.

Re: New American Standard TV ad?

We had one put in our rental house awhile back. I commented to the plumber that if everyone pooped golf-ball size feces, he'd be out of business. Plus, they would roll all the way to the treatment facility, so even less water would be needed. I don't watch TV, so I haven't seen the ad, but I have seen the "information" on the box.

Re: New American Standard TV ad?

I put two of those in my old house, amazing throne they are haha. There is a 4-5 min test video on YT some years back that American Standard made of all the things that it would flush without clogging, golf balls, hot dogs, eggs, random toys, thing is a beast. I recently moved and was going to throw 3 in the new house and then swing in to the local plumbing supply for some other stuff. Picked up 3 commercial TOTO units, now those are the bees knees!

Re: New American Standard TV ad?

Yeah, I have seen the "test" video where they put all kinds of things downs several different brands to show which was best, and that's fine. A kid is not likely to watch such things, but a random advertisement on any show?

Re: New American Standard TV ad?

Huh, I wonder if you could combine those with the "Will it blend?" ads... it could be interesting.

Not sure I'd want to be sitting on that blender...
