Parking Brake cables - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

My '68 gmc has been completely stripped of parking brake cables in it's previous life. All I have is the handle that goes under the dash. I was wondering if a universal replacement kit like this

would be easier than trying to collect all the parts to recreate the original cable system. Has anybody out there tried this?

If it were me I'd find all the original parts and go that route. I just completely replaced everything under my 67 except the inside handle and first cable. Not at all difficult.

The reason I say this is almost everything I've tried that was "universal" fit at some point during installation I thought I should have gone another route. Saying that, you might get feedback from someone that used the universal kit with no issues.

I used AC Delco from Rockauto , Everything fit and price was good .

I've learned that parts listed as "universal " really means GOOD LUCK ! It may work ... For awhile ...Maybe ,,,
