Re: Overhaulin 67 C10

Had it on the DVR, but in all honesty I kind of lost interest after the insider said they guy liked the old stock colors and liked teal and the Chip went with dark blue with rally stripes.
I think the truck would have looked just as sweet if not more so with the teal 503 color code and then all the rest that they did with it.

But shoot... I would have been happy with the way it was when they brought it in.

Re: Overhaulin 67 C10

does MAV have anything in HD yet? They have some cool programming picking up what Speed dropped. FS1 sucks. Its that stupid FS Live show half the day. At least they still show my MotoGP. NBC picked up F1 so thats safe for a few years.
gearz is by far the best car show I havent seen it on MAV yet. Are they new episodes?
Also FS1/2 are showing a bunch of MMA which is nice but fuel had that coved before along with other cool stuff like dirt bikes etc. I just dont see why we need another football/baseball channel. Oh I forgot FS is trying to be a big soccer channel. So they dumped us rednecks for frat bois and euro trash

Re: Overhaulin 67 C10

First off I think Foose is an incredible builder and designer. The only time he almost lost me on this build is when he was doing all the different renderings. One of em was his "signature" two tone. Personally I think its over done on his rides and I'm tired of the look.

Look at me being all smarter than Foose on what looks good and what doesn't LOL!

Re: Overhaulin 67 C10

I think from Chips perspective after doing 100's of cars and trucks it becomes hard to keep things unique without a lot of research and design, hence similar paint jobs. Kinda like coys and boss 338's on our trucks. They look great, but far from unique.

Re: Overhaulin 67 C10

anybody know where a photo album is on this truck i loved the bumper mods he did (not so much the brake lights) but more of the fact that he rolled the edges like the cars of the era but they never showed that stuff up close after the chroming. any clues?

This is my friend's truck. I was in the show for about 30 seconds in the background at the reveal. I can get you some pictures if you would like. He has been driving the truck but unfortunately, it has had a lot of bugs to work out.

Do tell. I like the show for the most part....usually gets me teary eyed at the end. But the C10 episode left me kind of disappointed. El Camino tails and racing stripes is not exactly my idea of hot on our trucks.

I thought it would have been much better with the 503 paint.

Tell your friend congrats! So do they really do the truck in 1 week? If so I can understand why he has to work the bugs out.

No they had the truck for 8 weeks before the reveal. They also keep the truck for several months after the reveal.

First the oil pan had a crack in it, so he had to replace the oil pan on the engine. Blueprint engines sent out a new pan free of charge. SO he had to pull the engine to fix that. Also he has had some electrical gremlins in the AC and radio. The trans had to be reworked since it wasn't set up for the power the engine was putting out.

Two major items have been, he was driving down the street doing about 50 mph when the rag joint fell apart on the steering box and he almost wrecked the truck. The second big item was they forgot to but the vin plate back on the truck. He had it at a show and some on-duty cops stopped to look at the truck and they noticed there was no vin tag in the door jamb. Luckily since they had seen the episode they let him go and told him to get it fixed asap.

The show has the truck inspected by an independent shop and these things were overlooked.

Re: Overhaulin 67 C10

Yikes! I've heard stories similar from a lot of others who have had their vehicles "overhauled". To me, the show would be more credible if they'd just eliminate the gimmiky "one week" turn-around. Anyone who's wrenched on a vehicle knows that the silliest thing a person could do is rush something to kick it out the door. A more candid show highlighting the vehicles and the build would be just as interesting. My wife suggested submitting my truck for entry a few years ago. I told her NO! It'd be just my luck it'd actually be selected then i'd feel obligated to appreciate someone else's vision for my truck.

Re: Overhaulin 67 C10

The truck looks great. I enjoyed watching the show.
I'm not sure I'd appreciate an "Overhaul" though. The biggest part of enjoying a project for me is the build. Searching for the parts and putting together the way I want.

Do you happen to know what the paint code is for the truck?

Thanks!
