Fuel surcharges. From what I hear the freight is out there and shippers are paying surcharges. Some of the brokers are pocketing that money instead of passing it on to truckers. Truck demand is still high. Drivers have to push for that money or park 'em.

Re: Gas Prices?

I don't know if it was Mother's Day related or not? (I doubt it) Bur gas dropped 20 cents here today. That's odd, to drop that much in one shot? Usually goes up by .20 and back down .03 or .04 at a time.
They weren't all down, but I would say that most of the ones I saw were.
I also just randomly discovered a place that sells non-ethanol, very close to me.
It was $4.79 though. I thought that they were all/mostly gone.
There is a Shell station on the east side that sells 105 octane "race gas". I would guess that they have some other non-ethanol gas too? but I don't know that for sure.

Re: Gas Prices?

$ 4.19 here. Higher in some parts of the DFW Metroplex. Sunday it was $ 3.96

DFW prices are now at record highs.

A # of my customers are having me pre-pay and add the freight cost to their invoice. So, now I'm treating that as I would materials cost and adding my normal mark-ups.

Fuel surcharges on freight eats profits. It is getting harder and harder for small manufacturers to stay alive. Raw material & component pricing escalating at the drop of a hat. Payroll demands increasing to the point that the little guys can't keep up (I just lost a 20 year employee to substantial $$$ increase, signing bonus and benefits).

As I mentioned in the retirement thread...my own retirement may come sooner than expected.

Re: Gas Prices?

Filled up my econobox. Couldn't be bothered to drive to CostCo. I paid $6.069 a gallon. $70.01 to fill it. My wife went to CostCo just for gas, which I generally consider a waste of time and fuel. $.40 cheaper per gallon. Guess I'll go there next time, which will be in about 6 weeks.

Re: Gas Prices?

There are some people shouting from the roof tops about EV's not being the fuel savers and such so many make them out to be but I'm afraid it's falling on deaf ears. There'll no doubt be more states getting in line with Cali and Wash fazing out new gas car sales in their states. There probably already is push incentive from the fed gov to states to faze them out.
I just watched a vid today reporting GM is no where near ready to go all EV, despite their claim to have 30 EV models by 2025. Chips, apparently, are still limited and battery production is not up to demand yet.
Oh gas prices, the highest here today is $4.29, lowest is $3.94

$111 for 20 gallons of gasoline?! I remember when that would have only been 10 bucks. Man I'm old.

I paid $4.54 for non ethanol premium Saturday. I paid $5.18 for diesel. The Cummins got 22.4 mpg running empty on a trip to NW Arkansas.

Re: Gas Prices?

Met a guy at Sam's club getting diesel the other day at 10am. He said he had filled his car up at 8am, then went back home to get his truck to fill it up and diesel had risen 18 cents in two hours.

Today I paid $5.19 for diesel. 40 gallon tank. When the pump hit $100.00 it stops my debit card and makes me pump again to finish another $100.00

Re: Gas Prices?

Power density and charging infrastructure are just not there yet, to make it feasible for most folks. From what I have heard, it won't be for at least 10 years, at the current pace of about 6% improvement per year. It would take an unprecedented leap forward.
