I need a 350 intake gasket

I have a stock 75 L-48 engine with a performer intake with a cross over. Fel-pro has way too many options. I find one and then scroll down to the comments and it says to a buyer your better off with this part #. Go to that part # and says to that buyer your better off with this part #. So I think I have 3 choices. Part # 1256 or #1204 or MS90314-2

Re: I need a 350 intake gasket

Three different gaskets for three different applications. 1204 has the exhaust crossover passage blocked. 1256 has crossover passage restricted. MS90314-2 has open passage with the option to install restrictor plates.

Which gasket you need is dependent on whether your heat riser valve is fully functional and if the Thermac system on the air filter housing is in place and fully functional.

All of these parts/systems, including the intake gasket configuration aid in cold weather driving during engine warm-up..

I don't know if "choices" is the correct word or not.. Fel Pro is an aftermarket supplier. They've been in business of making gaskets for a very long time, so they know what they're doing. Their "offerings" (a better choice of wording) are a bit universal.. A particular gasket design can be expanded in application by including something extra.. In the case of these particular intake gaskets, the exhaust gas crossover passage can be left open for certain applications or a restrictor can be installed with the gasket for other applications.. This results in a single part number for numerous applications. The installer/mechanic has to know which configuration applies to his manifold.

As for the "choices" of gaskets, you have to get and use the gasket set that can be properly configured for your particular engine emission "set-up". Since the intake manifold is an aftermarket, it isn't a factor in gasket configuration as long as it matches the port shape in the heads.. Is your engine still equipped with those emission components I mentioned?? In particular, the heat riser valve (sometimes referred to as EFE valve) located at the exit of the passenger side exhaust manifold??

Re: I need a 350 intake gasket

OK... I did a comprehensive search on the FelPro website. You didn't give much information on the engine in your truck but based on what you did provide, the gasket set you need is Part # MS90314-2.. Now, you have to figure out if the restrictor plates are needed for the heat riser passage.. I suggest you refer to the Factory Service Manual for the configuring of those plates.

I like that heat passage blocked. It always burns the heck outta the paint on the intake when it's not and I don't really drive my old truck around doing a lot of stop and go in cold weather anyway.

The 1204 is steel core laminate and is not recommended for use with aluminum intakes.
