Did they have a ECU in 85?

Found this on top of my heat/ac box behind the glovebox. If so what would it have controlled?

Probably ESC (electronic spark control)

If you've switch to HEI it is not needed. If you haven't switched...I have no idea.

Do you have a feedback Quadra jet? It’ll have some wires coming out if it of you do.

I just bought the truck, it has a junk Edelbrock on it and one of those goofy Accel coils on the HEI so it's been bypassed.
