60-66 speaker box for cheap

I have a 62 and installed a NOS bottle behind the 2003 tahoe seats on the pass side, thus I had limited room to add a speaker box. I measured tons of built boxs, etc. tried to get a few to under the seat. In the end I found a box at walmart for 28.79 it has two 6 inch subs and two tweets. It fits great behind the seat. As the Alpine head units drives it very nice, it does sound very good. If the speakers go south then I will replace them with a higher quality.

But for the money it was worth it for the box alone..,

In this vehicle I was only wanting a avg sound system. I own another with a a killer sound system. So I can tell you over all I would rate this box at about a 4 out of 10.. But for this tiny cab it sounds just fine for what I need..

Re: 60-66 speaker box for cheap

I know right, How could such a cheap speaker box even work?? It really sounds good for what it is. Not like it compares to high end stuff but for a guy that just wants some decent tunes in the cab this thing is the ticket. Anf you are right on it , if the speakers fail just upgrade them. For the price of the complete unit its worth that for the box alone.. LOL

Re: 60-66 speaker box for cheap

picked one up today. actually sounds pretty good but it going in a different project because of limited space. I am going to build 2 boxes for under the seat, one on each side to put a 8" sub and then mount the amp in the center. I will then put to 6x9's in the doors (I know cutting the doors). that should be pretty good for my son to slap as he calls it....

Re: 60-66 speaker box for cheap

just out of curiosity do you guys think a pair of 6x9's could be replaced in the box w/o modification? or with very little work??
