67 interior paint

My 67 is a long stepside, farm-truck equipped, meaning pretty bare-bones working truck. Some PO at some time in the past rattle-canned the interior sheet metal kind of a silver color. Not a real good job, and it is peeling off here and there. I would like to return it to more-or-less original appearance, but I can't find any info on interior paint color. From looking at places were the PO missed or where the rattle-can silver is peeling off, it looks like kind of a metalic beige color? I think this was pretty standard on the low-option, all-steel interior trucks? Can anyone provide info on 67 chevy interior paint? Color?

GM called your ''metallic-beige'' color, ''Fawn.'' Sort of mixed silver and gold paint.
Used extensively in MY '67, and sparingly in MY '68.
Looking for a spraycan of it myself, as I need to restore my original 3-spoke steering wheel.
The Paddock resto parts house carried it, but they went belly-up a few years ago, and no one seems to carry it now.

Re: 67 interior paint

Yep, Fawn is it. GM used it extensively in the '60s. If I (or you) had a good piece with that color on it I could take it to my paint supplier and have bomb cans made up (or pint cans to mix and gun spray)

2003 Nissan Sunlit Sand is dang near a dead-nutz match and should be in any paint suppliers mix book.

Re: 67 interior paint

I believe 67 interior paint name is ‘silver fawn poly’, not to be confused with 66 interior fawn or any exterior fawn paints - they are all different. Also ensure to order the correct sheen if having it mixed. I don’t have it handy but if you search for “67 interior paint” (on here) one of the top 5 results will show the Ditzler paint code and sheen. It’s just a printed GM ref sheet, sorry I don’t have it handy.

Re: 67 interior paint

There were actually more than one base interior paint colors. At this point, since no one offers the correct match off the shelf the names are just words unless your paint supplier happens to have the factory codes still. Interior paint was not an often used formula over the years until todays restorations.

ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. I just had a couple cans of this color made for me and redid the doors in my 67. Perfect match. Don't skimp on the paint bomb cans though. Get the hi flow ones made.

Where did you have your spray cans mixed? The seller in your ebay link doesn't show the Sunlit Sand / EV0 paint code in their store.

thanks!

They ask you to fill in the "note section" with the paint code when you are going through the checkout.

This sounds like what I am looking for, but couldn't turn up the paint codes by searching. Can anyone steer me to these?

It'll be a waste of time. I've tried several of the local auto paint shops in the Des Moines, IA area, and they all say the Ditzler paint code is obsolete. They have no way of crossing it over into a current code. That's why someone on this board went to a lot of work (cant' remember who) to come up with the 2003 Nissan EV0 code. I'm glad they did because it's the perfect color match and sheen.

Re: 67 interior paint

Post 11 of this thread lists 67 interior paint codes. It was the 2nd thread result listed when I googled 67 interior color - on this site. You have to click the 67-72 radio button to search only on here. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=643268

Silver Fawn Poly = Ditzler 22858, but keep in mind that you have to cross reference exterior paint code to make sure that is correct for your exterior/interior combo.

Hi Willie, Sorry to bring up a 5 month old thread, but I'm about finished with rebuilding my original '68 steering wheel and need to repaint it.

Do you have a 3-digit code for the Nissan Sunlit Sand?

I called the local Nissan dealer, and their parts guy said he needed the 3-digit code to find the right paint. Just the name won't work, [since the advertizing dept changes the names of the colors every year in fanciful ways.]

Thanks

Re: 67 interior paint

I have used the Nissan sunlit sand that duplicolor perfect match has premixed lacquer from the auto parts stores. Also light driftwood metalic is very very close to the 67 Fawn beige.http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1550884988

Re: 67 interior paint

I think the EVO is the number the Nissan guy needs. I just had the interior of my truck painted, and my body guy had a pile of color chips. We found the Sunlit Sand EVO in those chips. There was one that even just a bit closer, like EV0-1 or something like that. When he took the door panel off we found a fairly large section of original interior paint that had been protected, so we matched to that. Turned out well.

Re: 67 interior paint

Well, I went to O'RAP but the counter dude couldn't pull it up on the computer, and it wasn't on the shelves. [This was the dude with frisbee inserts in his ears. Looks out of place on a Caucasion.]
Or I can try the Zone tomorrow.
I think they did have the Driftwood Sand, maybe?

RTHarvey, nice look. I just need to get the wheel, hit the steering column, and some other trim pieces. '68 MY, they just used it as an offset trim to counter the body color, not the whole inside cab like '67 MY.

Re: 67 interior paint

I tried AutoZone but they had an even more limited selection, were charging a dollar more per can, and also couldn't order the Nissan Sunlit Sand.
So I went back to O'RAP and settled for GM Light Driftwood Sand Metallic 0482. I first bought a can of GM Fine Silver Birch -- that looked close to the faded OEM Fawn paint lingering in corners of the project wheel [under the flourescent store lights]. Then I compared that can top to the steering column, [outside in full sunilght.] and it was too silver. So I traded it out for the Drifwood Sand, that had a drop or two more gold.
Close enough. This ain't Art School. And I don't have the patience or budget to take the seerring wheel, or a piece of the column to a pro autopaint store for s custom color match. $9.99 vs $24.
