Firewalls done! I tried a new approach on this one that I really like. All th eones that I have seen that have molded off the top wire rail just do a flat plate but I wanted somthing different. Let me know what you all think.. This was done out of only two pieces that are joined in the center.:crazy:

I like it aswell, I'm glad you talked me into having it done that way. I can't wait to see it in person tomorrow. I have the seats and wiper parts. I won't be able to say thanks enough. Great Job.

Hey Rok, looks great. Wht holes did you leave in the firewall? I was afraid to weld up all of mine and then go back and have to drill holes all over again.

Got some more tricks done tonight (started last weekend) that will blow most people away including myself! Only problem is I can not let it out of the bag untill the truck is complete and ready for the shows! Sorry but I have had real bad luck in the past with original ideas that I have come up with or built for others that always end up in the mags before my projects get finished! This is one of the reasons that by "Project Slow Build" is on the very back burner, when I started it it was cutting edge but it took longer than I wanted and it soon became the norm. So their will be a few things that wil not be revealed but for the most part you guys will see it all. I will be doing a set mounting write up in the next few weeks showing the safe way to mount the new seats with built in belts into these old trucks. You will be able to find it in the FAQ area when it is done.

If you're putting the new silverado seats in this truck and the owner is tall (around 6'+), he might want to reconsider it. I have them in my 70 swb, and I'm getting ready to take them out due to the fact that there is no room in the cab with those seats in there. They are going to end up in the Blazer, so I have room to push them back and recline a little bit. Not trying to bust anyone's bubble, just giving my opinion.
BTW, I can't wait to see what is so secret that it will blow all of us away, including you! |

We did a trial run this week end and the seats are just fine. I am 6' he is not;) so their is not a problem. I on the other hand will nees a thinner and lower (2" body drop) seat for my 71swb. I am going to look into the GTO seats.

I used some seats out of a 03 Deville in my 52 chevy. Full power and they have the integrated seatbelts.

I've seen some people using the Chrysler Sebring seats that have the integrated seatbelts, also.

Ok a few up dates. Fire wall is about done I just need to weld up the speedo cable hole, we are going to route it up from the bottom of the fire wall to keep it out of site. I have most of the cowl shaving done I just need to work on the gap at the base of the windshield some. It is not as even as I would like yet. I started blocking out the cab so I can see just were I need to use the spot puller and were we can block out with high build primer. Any ares the I can get to will get worked out but anything on the roof or in the double wall areas will get spot weld studs and then get pulled out abit. You can see in the pic's any area thet is darker then the area around it is low and will be brought out before the first coat of fill primer. Gota love the Tip&Flip dolly for doing body work! Saves your back from all sorts kinks and bends.

Do you have the inner roof/headliner panel out to get at the back of those roofs dings?
I have a bunch above the back windo and right along the top of the roof seam and i'm not 100% on how I'm going to get them out without access to the back of the roof panels. |

I am starting to work on the front of the roof and the door openings now. Once all the metal work is done I will re-shoot the cab, block sand it and start any filler needed.

Gap time! I finished all the metal work on the roof for now so it was time to move down the way to the doors. First I spent some time getting the door to fit as well as posible. The drivers side lined up real well at the bottom of the window channel and down at the bottom body line area but the middle belly band of the doow was out about 1/8" to 3/16". Since one of the important on this truck are the body lines and panel gaps I decided to cut the door jamb loose and bring it out just a touch. Once that was done it only left a few small areas that were not out flush with the door. I need to add that the door lined up good when it came here but the last shop or a PO did the old trick of folding the edge of the door in a bit to get it to line up, so I first fixed that then went on.
Next it was time to close up the gap from 3/8" to about 3/16" so out came the Tig rod and away I went. Not only did I close up th egap but I also made sure it was out flush with the door skin before tacking it in place. Once it is all done I will be using lead to finish out this area.
