Re: 57 Build: Beverly

Figured I would update this thread as it has been a while. Took a week off of work to get some work done on her.
-Raptor liner sprayed on firewall, inside hood fenders and other assortwd parts.
-CPP 6 lug front disks are on, new hubs and taperwd bearing kit.
-Kingpin kit installed.
-CPP power booster and master are on.
-CPP 400 series ps box is on.
-Sway bar installed.
-Posies 3" drop springs are on.
-Engine is in, trans is in, crossmembers cross bolts installed, headers installed.

Now the bad..

-Looks like even though I moved the motor forward an inch, I need to give some more clearance for the firewall and dizzy.

-Rad support puts the rad too close to the wp pulley so that needs to get worked as well.

Sorry for only one pic, taking the wife out to dinner because she is an awesome chick for supporting this obsession of mine...

PLEASE!!!
I've rebuilt this truck 3 time already because she keeps changing her mind. NOW she wants a 4 speed.

If she had let me do it my way from the jump, it would be on bags and stick shift.
My wife is crazy! :banghead:

Re: 57 Build: Beverly

Hi LDO very nice truck. It takes me back to July of 91, I was 17 it was summer vacation, I got a summer job hauling scrap cleaning up an old farm. when it came time to clean out the barn there it sat, a 57 Chevy step side 100% numbers matching all original right down to the 6 cylinder with top loader 4 speed, The motor, trans, seat and floor mat had been removed but were in the barn next to the truck, making it 100% complete. It had been parked there in 69 and never moved, the body was straight as an arrow, no dents or dings anywhere, the only rust was barley surface rust, it was so light you could remove it right down to bare metal with a brillo pad. I asked the farmer about it, he said it's my brother's but it's gotta go, I have an open title for it, so if it ain't gone by next Friday it's yours, I'll call him tonight and tell him so. Well next Friday came and I showed up with a trailer all ready to haul it away, the farmer came out and said well, I can't, I just can't give it away, it's my brother's and he wants to keep it. The barn's being torn down so help me move it along side the milk house. We pulled it along side the milk house and put the rest of the parts inside of the milk house. 24 years have passed since then, I went to visit the farmer this last July and there sat, along side the milk house. He said a lot has changed since then, my brother has passed and I'm to damned old to do anything with it, besides I still don't want it. He asked if I was still interested in it, I took one look at it, the cab sunk, and slightly sprung, I walked up to it and opened the door, with the floor pans gone along most of the rockers and cab corners I gently closed it and said, scrap is 25 dollars a ton if you add the rest of parts to it you might get 75 dollars.

:hi:Why hello LDO... your wife is here. I was quite busy today. Sanding, sanding and more sanding on ole Beverly. She's ready to be taken down even further this weekend and I'll be removing all wiring over the next day or so when I can fit it in.

Looking forward to all the great things we have in store for the truck during it's 3rd restoration. I promise this is it. I like being married and fear if I ask for anything else I may get divorce papers instead.

Oh by the way, after working on the truck and jamming to your great music in the garage I baked you an apple crisp for your dessert tonight because I know how much you love that. xoxox

So here are some updated pics. I removed the cab and bed from the old frame and got my 84 shortbed frame at the house. Gonna start working on filling in the gas fill hole and some other things and then get to the body work.

New (to me) 84 C10 Frame...

Already yanked off most of the stuff I won't need (motor and trans) and returned to my buddy who donated the frame.

Want to totally rebuild the front end. Not sure if I should get new upper and lower control arms or re-use these and have them powder-coated and rebuilt. Open to suggestions.

Gonna go with 3" drop spindles and 2" drop springs in the front and flip kit in the rear.
