Chassis dyno sceduled Friday @ 10 . Then Chromemolly the following monday. Here is the currents . Added some LED boat lights . Truck had a direct short im the running lights . Everytime i pulled the lights on it blew the fuse . The horn didnt work either . Dash lights had none factory lights scabbed in , so i cut all that out and fixed the factory dash lights . All connections soldered and heat shinked . Put the dash back together and installed new horn and Mikado wheel Everythong is legal except emergency brake , but it think i can still get a sticker Probably end up with a disc on the rear end yoke . I also pulled the old tach and added one of the new auto meter auto sticks . Ordered a 1 gallon fuel cell for the Nitrous fuel system . I will run race fuel in it Ready to put tunes in . A/C & heat next . Plate ,, noids and hoses going to Induction solutions coming up . Then power steering .

Yea , I got a call the night before , apparently the computer for the chassis dyno crashed and it lost the program . They are working to get the software back . They will be down for a week or so . I tore into it this week and changed more stuff . Installed the 1 gallon fuel cell and moved the fuel pump . I am also replacing the rear cell , which is plastic , with an aluminum one . I plan on running C16 in the Nitrous cell and 93 in the main cell . A local forum im on is having a meet on the 17th so my goal is to make some shake down passes then .

I also had everything to build a 4.11 center so it is in the diff shop . I tried to set it up myself but didn't feel great about the pattern so i took it in to have it double checked . Seriously considering moving to 1350 u-joints as i currently have 1330s .

Also planning on moving the new rear cell , bottle and battary all the way back to the tailgate . Anyway here are some progress pics of last weeks work .

The 1350's is a good call.
I never broke the 1330's I had in my 4100lb truck on a T-brake.
I did swap to the 1350's once I got some real tire under it.

I like the C-16 cell being up front. Less work the pump has to do. I think it helps fight against the G's on the launch and the run down Broadway.

Good luck on your shake downs.

Thanks, im like 2700 lbs . The other truck went 6.0's @3200lbs on 275's with 1330's

I also took the -4 elbow and on the threaded side i drilled and tapped it for a Holley jet . I took the smallest brass holley carb jet i had and soldered it up then drilled a .042 hole in it . That runs through braided line back to the top of the cell . This is a return line to keep the regulator from "creeping" . I am hoping to keep the fuel pressure steady . Some say run return lines others say don't . Hope i didnt go to big on the hole i drilled .

Re: New project

If any thing it might be to small. I'm sure it will work.
I ran a race pumps fuel pump and reg. I believe it had a 71 Holley jet in it.
I personally like return lines. Keeps fuel psi steady and the temp cooler.

Yes , there is a guy here in Baytown that has a chassis shop . I went in on a big tubing order with another guy , so we got a break in the price . I want to say $5.30 a ft . X 70 Ft . It will come with the documentation from the manufacterer for the chassis cert . Which will be done at the chassis shop before i pick it up . This is so the inspector can tell the chassis guy directly if there are any problems . I did Mild in the last truck and it's cheaper to do it right the first time . Plus it adds value to the truck to have Chromemoly certed cage . Looking at a 12 point with 2 swing out bars . I will post picks as im going through the build . He has to 25.2 a Nova before me as they are trying to get to the Goergia race .

Re: New project

2570 after the last pass . guessing the bars will add 100#s . Thinking i can put coilovers in place of the front shocks and lose the torsion bar crossmember and bars to get back down their . Also Having some idle curcuit problems with my speed demon so i bought a bigs stage 5 750 for it .

If you dont mind can you take a few more pics of the fuel and lines , regs up front?? I am at that point and working around a few ideas but to see a few always is a big help. I have that Comp dual cheater kit I am getting into place. On the fuel cell are you running a say -8 TEE with a ball valve to swap from one tank to the other?

This is a stand alone for the nitrous it is -8 to the fuel pump then the reg is fit straight to the pump . -6 out of the pump to the solinoid . the bypass is a -4 90 that i drilled and tapped for a holley jet . I soldered up the holley jet and used a small index bit to drill just enough so the pump doent dead head and creep . the -4 goes back to the top of the 1 gallon in front .

Looks good

I noticed your CalTracs front brackets are on the ourside of the front spring hanger. Was there not enough room between the spring and the hanger? Do those new rear fenders have a larger opening? I see the flare, but they look like they have a bigger opening.

The Cal tracs are on the outside of the hanger . These trucks have a bolt in front pivot like a Nissan . You have to weld a piece of 1/4 " plate in to fill the hole . The front hanger is set up for 3 " springs and the truck has 2 7/8 " . It is easier to put them outside . They build a 3" split mono for these trucks , but it really requires new front spring perch be welded in .

The rear fenders are wider and will give me 1 1/2" more tier room . I think they were originally off a courier ( so i was told ) , but could have been off a full sized truck . They are glass and lighter than the gray ones .
