What brand DynoBoost did you install?

Pulled the old motor Friday night. I didn't have the parking brake on so the truck rolled back a little and turned the transmission a bit. I'm pretty sure the only thing that stopped it from rolling further was the transmission dip stick. Oops...

Saturday I replace the transmission mount and use my police crown vic to push the truck up the driveway to turn the transmission back. Got it pretty straight. Jacked up the tranny so it was level. And lastly put the old motor on a second engine stand so I could use the hoist. The wife had other things for me to do so that was about it for today.

Today I got the motor in place and on the new motor mounts. Was getting late and have calculus homework so had to call it quits.

At this point, I need to figure out how to get the last half inch between the engine and tranny cleared and get the transmission all the way turned right. Probably about 3/4" off. Any tips would be appreciated.

Make sure your converter didn't move spin it and make sure its all the way back .You can use some longer bolts temporary and gently pull the trans into place just make sure you don't have too much resistance .If need be take the trans mount loose and wiggle it man!ha ha good luck.

Prophylactic Measure

This is a very good idea and should be done to all our trucks , the collected leaves rusted out and destroyed my other wise perfect low mileage , good original paint cab :waah: .

It wasn't the easiest thing to do, the screen kept wanting to roll up on me before the hot glue set up, but it was by far cheaper than ordering one thru a vendor.

Thanks for the tip. I've read about spinning the TC when changing it out so I went ahead and did it since it did move. Set it all the way back.

One thing I haven't read is if the direction to spin it matters. I spun both directions.

No doesn't matter which direction when its out totally they will drop in then you spin it around again and you will feel it drop into place one last time when the tabs lighn up.When right its about a quarter to half inch from the flywheel.Believe it or not when i was 17 we changed transmissions with a cinder block and a 8 foot long 2x6 we couldn't afford a jack !Ha ha crude but it worked.

IIRC there are _three_ splines to line up in a torque converter , most of the time one slips right in and you have to invert the tranny and hand spin the T.C. back and forth until you hear / feel it click and drop twice more .

It'll be close to the inside of the bell housing when it's right , at least 1/4" between the flex plate and the T.C. when you offer up the tranny ~ never , EVER force it ! therein lies madness and an empty wallet :waah: .

I just got another 'phone call from The paint Jail ~ it seems he's hot to trot on painting my truck now and really wants me to come get my driveline , he says no problems painting the bottom of the cab green to match and suit me , they guy who's paying for it .

I'll go by in a day or so and drop him off some $ if I see progress , I assume there will be .

QUESTION : many of the I6 powered trucks I see , have the inner upper lip of the right hand frame rail , right in front of the passenger side motor mount , cracked and bent up a little bit ~ what's the deal with this ? I am having him heat it , massage flat and butt weld it from underneath as I don't like cracks in anything , they tend to creep with the way I drive .

Please run out to your truck or that nasty old frame in the weeds and take a look see , report back here .

TIA ,

I agree. I installed the cowl screen because I just completed the interior and got tired of all the trash coming thru the vents & I was vaccumming up leaves on my new carpet everyday. lol

Well ;

Back when this truck was new and I was lucky to drive / ride in post WWII vehicles, part & parcel of Spring was to take a spirited ride with those " crotch cooler " A Pillar vents wide open and get leaves and dust into your eyes and mouth , then you'd clean out the cab (trucks) or interior (cars) and be able to use those wonderful vents all Spring and Summer long.....

Times have changed for most but not for a few of us Geezers ~ I unload the entire cab before that ride so I don't get all the other crap I carry , full of leaves .

Maybe I'll have my painter add some screen , is brass screen still available ? .

I am *VERY* excited to be thinking of having my truck back by New year's maybe :chevy: .

On a stock heater.AC combo, I'm all for the anti-leaf screen.

Running VA, I don't use the kick panel vents. So we (Lee The Painter *actually* did it) used sheet metal to seal these up.

Except for the holes for the window washers, it's pretty water tight...Let alone, a good way to keep out the leaves.

I used the CPP kit! I want recommend it though! It's lacking a lot but over all it's all there. The kit lacks instructions for details that you just have to figure out your self. Like the spacers. I ended up not using either one of them. had to add washers to the drivers side and nothing on the passenger side. Brackets to hold brake lines were wrong size. T bolts aren't grade 8 that hold the bracket's on. Calipers are a ***** to get to grab and adjust.
I spent 20hrs the last 2 whole days to get them installed.
Here is a link with more about the install.

I have become fronds with a local powder coater here recently. I asked if I could use his blast booth to blast my cab. I was happy to give him some cash. He refused to take the cash, so I brought him some liquid refresents.

Here are some pictures of it before it went in. I forgot to snap some pictures of the finished product.

Made me a set of Rear Drop Blocks today, I made four 1inch blocks so I can to 1 or 2 inch option over and above the already installed Jeep TJ rear springs.

made the blocks 7inchs long and 4 1/4inchs ctc on the holes. Ubolts are 3/4 thread I had a one size bigger 13/16 cause that's the only big drill bit I had kept the bit lubed with PB blaster on the drill press and drilled smoothly.

Here are all my parts ready to go in maybe this week or next weekend.
