Looks great. Glad the filler worked out. It's a beautiful thing when a plan comes together.

Thanks guys! Still haven't been able to get any good shots or video, but My son and I went to our first show yesterday and got a sponsor's choice award. We were ecstatic just to be recognized out of a group of about 200 entries. Now I have to work out a few bugs in order to leave wednesday for Cruisin the coast.

Hey Wynne, my wife wants me to build her a sports car (which in my mind means muscle car), after I finish my 67. I'm trying to talk her into letting me build her a truck... Do you think this might help sway her decision? :haha:

Thanks! We saw and checked out yours too, and everytime I see it, I get the fever to do my Grandad's '53. I got a few pics at Cruisin the coast that I will post when I can.

It's a awesome feeling to be able to finally enjoy it after all these years building it. It is a joy to drive, and not just for the looks that it gets. This thing is FUN. Plenty of pep, handles better than a truck should with the big 1 & 1/8" sway bar up front, and got a respectable 14-15 mpg on the highway last weekend. I've still got a few mods in store for it this winter.
I saw you a couple of times too Nobby, but we were passing on the highway each time. I wanted to check out that new interior you have. Here are a few pics.

Wynne, that's pretty decent gas milage without an OD trans. I only got 17 mpg on the highway with my 700-R4.

HuggerCST 10-16-2009 11:10 AM

Re: HuggerCST's '70 SWB CST build

I was really surprised, Steven. I've never had a carberated truck get mileage that good. I was thinking about a overdrive, but as long as I stay under 70mph, it's not screaming at me, (about 2800rpm at 70) and with that mileage I'll probably leave it alone.

Glad you're out there enjoying it. Come this spring, I hope that's me pending everything working out. The truck is truly gorgeous.

Thanks! It takes a lot to get them in shape, but it's worth it in the end. I'm looking forward to seeing yours when it's done!

Thanks guys. I used Dupont Chromapremier basecoat with Dupont 7779S clear. Not cheap, but awesome looking stuff. I'm going to another local show in the morning with my wife and 2 boys. I'm loving finally having something to take to these shows.

I totally love factory style two-tone paint jobs, your truck looks terrific. I know how hard it is to get these buckets road worthy let alone show worthy...
Enjoy it.,......:metal:
