Re: My 4/6" ECE lowering install thread - 72 Shorty

215 ft lbs. And re torque after 500 miles. If you want to PM me your email, I'll send you a scan of the install instructions.

I was really impressed with this thread, I just loved this truck and the stance of the kit you fitted so I ordered the kit and the sway bar and had it all shipped over here to the UK costing me another $500.

I picked up the boxes today after waiting 2 months for it to be delivered and what do you know, the springs are missing :censored::dohh::mad::whine:

That is absolute unacceptable. Please post if ECE corrects their mistake and gets you your parts ASAP.

Have you called ECE? They should send them free of charge.

Let us know how this works out.

What makes you IMMEDIATELY assume that it was ECE's fault?

I'm just wondering.

I must have missed something.

It's the most likely explanation. The alternative is someone stole just the springs from this fellow's shipment and left everything else? Hopefully we get an update and he get his very costly parts in his hands soon.

Also, ECE's attention to detail is a bit inconsistent in my experience with a spring set I returned to them for exchange that sat in their receivables section for weeks until I called them and discovered they'd failed to fulfil their promise sending me replacement springs. May have been a one-off case. I still recommend ECE's parts and am happy with my setup. It would drive me nuts to wait as long as this fellow did and pay $500 for shipping to have poor order QC by ECE (my assumption) be the cause of further delay.

Since you waited 2 months for you initial shipment, how long is this one going to take? Is "Customs" the bottle neck?

Whoa, whoa buddy, ease up on all the green pics!! St Patty's Day isn't until Thursday!
JK, I've always loved this truck even before the drop, you take great photos.

DibDob - Sorry to hear about the mix up, that sucks having to sit and wait even longer. It will be worth the wait (eventually).

I'm pretty sure they're stock rallys, so 15x8 I believe.

Hi guys loved this thread. I'm curious tho, you don't need a c notch?

johnmiller66 12-11-2016 09:18 PM

Re: My 4/6" ECE lowering install thread - 72 Shorty

ECE says a c notch is not required. I didn't notch mine. Driving with no load it's fine, but I put a complete small block motor in the back and it bottomed out when it hit a bump in the road.

Re: My 4/6" ECE lowering install thread - 72 Shorty

I've never heard of felt the rear axle touching the frame on mine. I even have it 1/4 lower in the rear now with a spacer, so the rear is 6" lower with the rear springs, plus 1/4" more with the spacer. 300 miles on it since then with no issue. No c notch.

I like your truck. Looks like we have some of the same taste buds.

Here's one I built a few years ago. Sadly sold to build another.
But sold to a great guy.

Still see her around here. Still pals with the "new" owner.

ECE all the way.

Hello Ekliptix,
Beautiful truck. I'm getting ready to freshen up my 72 with some new springs and shocks. Truck is on what I believe is a 4/6 drop done by the PO.
I thinking of going with the ECE springs. what was your final set up front and rear?
Thanks,
Robert.
