Yeah.... well I never really thought the T5 would stay together.. but I also didn't think it would happen this quick. I may have 500 miles on it. The trans was used but everything seemed ok. Swapped the Input shaft for a 10 spline (professional).

Time for a Tremec TKO 600

Yeah, sorry. Spent enough time with the T5 so I'm not surprised. T56 an option?

Not really, I think the shifter placement would be too hard to overcome.

shifter placement
That is a tough one. There are options: https://core-shifters.com/products/c...ard-relocation

If you can get the parts the shifter ends up about 14" from the bellhousing. Here's a nice writeup.

It's too bad there never really was a killer five speed car transmission supplied by OEM.

Well the T5 behind the mustang was a bit better, anyway I think for the cost associated with getting the shifter of a t56 in the right spot I'd be at the same price for a brand new TKO. Only thing is I would have the cool 6th gear.

Or just jump on up to a 6060..

Re: And bang....

Same diff. But it will cost me $500 more.

That is a weaker version of the T5 you had and its the powershifting that killed it. Treat it nice and it will last. Easy to rebuild so give it another go.

Problem is, why rebuild it when I run the chance of another failure? Honestly I know how I drive and what I'm going to do with it haha. It makes more sense financially to just go ahead and swap to a trans that's much less likely to fail with my driving habits.

You and I have a different definition of powershifting.

Lo1dakota, thanks for the ride, sounded pretty good!
