Looking good! Can you post a pic of how you have the transmission mounted to the engine stand?

AJ here is the mount for the 4l80e/th400.

I just went through your entire build. Great work and I really like your attention to detail! It looks awesome! I was really surprised how nice the GSI door handles were when I got mine. I was going to do a LS swap and twin turbos in my 40 Ford but decided to keep the 354 Hemi in it. I might put my 5.3 in a 71 Challenger later instead. Seeing your pics makes that burn need itching. Haha Keep up the great work. I can't wait to watch the vids of it snorting!

Thanks for posting the pics of the mount! Does this mean you finished up the transmission?

Those door handles are killer too! Thanks for posting them up! I wasn't familiar with GSI until now.

Thanks and hopefully I will have it alive by the end of the summer!

Yes the transmission is done and will hopefully get it installed this weekend.

The GSI handles are really well designed and machined. My stock ones were pitted and from what I hear all the repops are terrible so I dished out some coin on these but to me they are worth it.

Nice parts you have there Brandon, I really like those GSI handles. I'll have to look into them when the time comes. I plan on running the Super Slam Inner Fenders from Hills, is that what you got?

Thanks Keith and yes they are the super slammed version. I really like the stock appearance and full coverage of their wheel wells.

Nice handles! I'm wanting a set as well. Going to see if he'll cut them without the slot.

Thanks Sac! I thought about seeing if they could do this but after some contemplating I went with the ones they had.

Re: My 67 SWB BoostedC10 (LQ4 S475)

Well my weekend didn't go as planned. I wanted to get my front wheel wells installed to make sure I have the room I want for the turbos and to check a few other clearances before pulling the body off to put the trans in.

The issue I have is that the Hills Rod and Custom Super Slammed wells aren't even close to fitting. The arch is off by a mile and it seems like they are twisted. Not sure if Curt has an issue with this mold but after digging around here and Instagram I found out that Kyle from Laidback Creations also had a big issue with them.

I though I was going crazy when I started the install so I gave Rob (Hartrod) a call to see if I was missing something. He was good enough to answer my questions and send some pics. It was then I noticed him and most of the guys running the Hills wells are using the standards and not the Super Slammed.

Currently I have an email to Hills and waiting to see what can be done. Below are some pictures of what I am talking about.

I hope that this is something as simple as I got an old pair or earlier pair and I can get another set that fit. We will see when I hear back from Hills I guess.

Dam, that sucks Brandon! Hopefully Hills can resolve the problem for you! I'll be interested in the solution as you know I was looking to run the same inner fenders!

Keith I will let ya know as soon as I hear back from them. Like I said, I hope it is something simple but we will see. All part of the game I guess!

I talked with Curt at Hills Rod and Custom and we are working on it. From what I can tell, it looks like the inner fenders relaxed a bit to much when they pulled them from the mold.

The good news though it looks like I can pull them back where they need to be with a couple ratchet straps. Hopefully with a little heat I can take the tension off the glass and they will stay put.

https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-bXpSZjS-L.jpg

You can see in the pictures where the curve on the inner fender doesn't match the fender. The rear is bolted in to hold it in place and the front is out about an inch or so. This week I plan to get one in place and see what happens.

I also got the transmission in the chassis and measured for a driveshaft. Only issue is I need to have the mounts lowered by what looks to be an inch to line everything up right and have the powertrain as low as possible in the chassis. Hopefully I will hear from Nate or Dave this week and get it corrected.

Bummer about the inner fenders. I hope you get that all lined out. Keep your head up and try to stay positive. We all had to overcome obstacles on our trucks. ;)

I agree Mike, this is all part of building custom vehicles. I am not to worried about wheel wells and I am sure I will get them figured out. Curt has also assured me he will do whatever it takes to make it right. This stuff is really minor to me and I will continue to truck along on this one!!!

What angle is the engine and trans sitting at? I haven't bolted in my trans crossmember yet. I've been putting it off because I have a feeling it may be a pain lol. I haven't done much research on it yet.

The motor in the first pic with the trans on the jack is 5* the second with the frame aired out off the jack crossmember on the bottom frame rail it's 7*. As a note this crossmember is 6 years old and Nate has made some revisions since then. I am in contact with Nate now and plan to get the motor down as far as possible with new mounts. I have about 1-2 inches I can come down and need it for my intake for sure. I will keep the post updated as I get more details.

Ideally you want to be at 0* down with a 2 piece shaft but with the dropmembers this is almost impossible. If you can keep it 5* or less down you can make it work.

Tylerz181500 06-13-2016 03:42 PM

Re: Project Beatrix

usually anything driveline wants no more than 5* and at least 1* when it comes to the driveshaft. as far as axle and powerplant 0* is optimal.

This is the best way to show it. Nate had it on his site and it should clear up any confusion. Its all about the working angles of the shafts in the real world with a dropmember. I will add more detail once my shaft is done to hopefully clear it up even more.

Well I got the passenger wheel well installed. Took a little bit of persuasion but not too bad and it doesn't seem to be under too much pressure.

https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...CJjJCvr-XL.jpg

Few ratchet straps helped line every thing out and twist it where it needed to be.

https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-rrX9H2K-L.jpg

It sits pretty flush with the inner fender lip. Had to use longer bolts though, the factory ones are way to short to make it work with the thickness of the glass.

https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-NKB8VH2-L.jpg

I still need to close out the top of the super slammed wells so it looks more stock.

Also started shaving my firewall, installing the PB hood hinges and filling in some unwanted/need holes.
