Re: Jeep Coil Spring Drop
Just wanted to add a note to this thread about the rear Jeep TJ/LJ springs.
There are four different versions of the springs that were used from 1997 through 2006. These are the ones that can be used on the C10. Similar rear springs could be found on the Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ. All four versions are the same length wise but vary in rate. The only way to tell them apart is by the color coded tags that are on the springs from the factory, they read as follows: 103AA (or 3AA) 130lb. 104AA (or 4AA) 140lb. 105AA (or 5AA) 150lb. 106AA (or 6AA) 160lb. The colors on the tags can vary and the rates are "ball park" at best. |

Re: Jeep Coil Spring Drop
The ride is real rough with cut springs. I did that once too.
This Jeep spring mod looks like something to do in the near future. What is used to hold them in place? I have cut coils welded in the rear now from the PO. The ride is not too bad in the rear, but would like it smoother. |

Re: Jeep Coil Spring Drop
Are chevelle springs any 'stronger/thicker' than jeep springs? (I like the drop of the jeep springs but not the hauling capacity).

That looks awesome... I see the stock springs for the Chevelle can be had on RockAuto for about $55-65. How does it ride? Bottom out like crazy? Did you relocate your shocks? How is the front lowered, if you don't mind me asking. |

On the front, I cut 1.5 coils and cut off the bump stops on the LCA's. I sold that truck about a year ago, but I wouldn't recommend the coil cuts that much just because it puts the LCA's too close to the ground. If you're considering cutting coils, read this first.... http://webrodder.com/article.php?AID=582&SID=16 |
Re: Jeep Coil Spring Drop
so in english.... what do i need to drop the front 2 inches without cutting.
|
Re: Jeep Coil Spring Drop
Drop spindles, 'lowered' coil springs, air bags
cut 1 coil off and you'll be fine |
Re: Jeep Coil Spring Drop
jeep spring in the rear and a c notch. Put 7 sheets of 3/4" plywood in there today. Rode sweet no bump.;) Front coils cut about 2 removed the bumps and the brackets.

Re: Jeep Coil Spring Drop
Can you add air bags inside the springs to help carry the load. Just like air shocks of yesteryear? Set up the same way.

Re: Jeep Coil Spring Drop
