Running wires down A pillar?
 

Anyone have any advise about running wires down the left A pillar from the inner roof to under the dash. I don't see any obvious holes or routes.

I did it for my mic on the radio, PITA, but it is possible, since my cab was originally a C30, the mirror mount was the plain Jane Steel, when I switched to the nice early model Crome base it opened up an extra hole for the mic cable......and I installed an extra pull string just in case...oh...I may need to mention that I used an iPhone bore scope to accomplish the task...

If you have some good Google/search Kung fu you can look up a video that member Txfirefighter (I think) posted. He ties a piece of string to the wire he wants to run, then he uses an air hose to blow the string UP the piller to the sun visor hole then just pulls the wire. Simple and effective.

I've used old speedo cables (inner cable) as snakes to install wires in roofs.

Can't see any hole under the dash that is in the area of the A pillar. Guess I will splice longer wires and run under the door sills to the rear cab post and up it and across the roof to the mirror area.

My FiL did this to run speaker power wires to the cheezoid speakers he put in the headliner. I pulled those wires out. They were laid under the A-pillar cover, not up inside the A-pillar. I'm probably going to get one of those Brothers headliners with the 4 speakers, and put the radio up in that headliner, too. That way, we can put the rear view camera monitor in the radio slot, and let it cover the ash tray as well. My wife quit smoking over 35 years ago when we started having children She smoked maybe a pack a week, so that wasn't a great sacrifice- and if we can't put stuff in the ash tray, what do I care? I'll have a camera that will provide safety for us and other people who are walking by when I back up. Win-win.

Holy Smoke, that looks easy! I learned something today. Now, if I can figure out how to not remove the instrument panel, or only move it a little bit..

I did it on my Burban. I did a search for A pillar rust repair and found some pictures of one dissected then I knew what I was up against. I ran the pull wire down and pulled the wires up from below. Now I realize the headliners are different on a truck than a Burban but the photos from a truck A pillar helped me. The tail light harness runs through the A pillar on a Burban so I had to fight with that too.

That's how they got the roof running lights to work on all 1960--99 trucks even the C50-C80's where done that ways even with the light bar.My 1968 long horn is done that way

Been searching for two days. I’m going to get into repairing the rusty pillar (upper, under the drip rail) did you see this repair on here or the web? Is this not a common rust spot? I’m guessing not since they don’t make replacement patches.

I gave up on running wires down the A pillar. Instead I ran from the center mirror location back between the roof panels to the courtesy light above the rear window, and from there over to the left door. Then up the floor track to the dash. Long way, but it worked.
