BTW, that truck and camper looks great.

Thanks! It could well be that those emblems were never installed. Some of the things I saw done on the assembly line when I worked at the GMAD in Van Nuys, CA will go unsaid, because some of them were crimes. They are now beyond the statute of limitations, but I don't want to take any chances. >.>

I took a picture of an old picture of my dad's 67 GMC 3 / 4 ton camper cruiser with 101 square bales which were loaded out of a barn loft. This truck also hauled a lot of cattle. I'm working on restoring it now.

Let's see....
Straw bales are 45-50 lbs a bale, so 45 x101=4545 lbs
Alfalfa bales are 75-100 lbs. 75x101=7575
Yep she's loaded.

Love the color of your 72 Custom Camper and also am a huge fan of vintage Cardinal trailers. Yours looks like it is in great shape. Best of both worlds!

Yup. I have one on mine.

I think that I have solved the mystery of not having "Longhorn" emblems on the fenders. The bed is tweaked a little, so it was probably hit sometime before '73 when my FiL bought it. He's never mentioned it getting hit, that's why I say before. Can't ask him, since he died 9 years ago. Whoever did the body work probably just left the trim off. The SPID says 133" wheel base, so it's a true Longhorn. I'll check someday if it has bondo or braze there.

Steeveedee,

I also have a 1970 Chev Longhorn, matching SPID and as far as I can tell all original.

Both "Longhorn" badges have come off, one is in the glove box, the other is missing, neither side of the bed has holes for badge pins to go through, they appeared to be "glued" on, not sure what with.

The original badge I have in the glovebox has no signs of ever having pins.
you can see the outline of the adhesive in front of the rear side marker in this photo, both sides the same.

Mine also had a camper from new, an 11ft ANZA camper, which the order notes specific reference to "longhorn" not sure what was different about it, as I don't have any photos of the camper. I wish I did.

Well now, that is pretty interesting. I didn't think that there was a tape that good back in the day. Guess I should start a thread about that. I had a '68 Skylark GS California that had the "GS" emblem on the "C" pillar (it was a "post" car). I had the devil of a time getting those emblems off when I painted the roof after removing the shredded vinyl top. There was no way I was going to buy those serrated barrel nuts to secure those emblems again, so I used double-sided tape.

I was heading home from the tractor dealer about 75miles away. I had grabbed a few things along the trip including a new front clip for the GMC for $350.

Don't look too close, the poor truck is rusting away on my. I hope to tear it down late next summer.
