How do I remove stud from RCD Classics shocks (with pictures)

Here are shocks in question.

Anyone know how to remove the factory stud? I can't figure it out.

I'd say grind that rivet and see what happens.

Meh. Okay. I'm really looking for a way to mount these above the frame rail. Looks like Porterbuilt or Hotchkis have options. Though Hotchkis' product comes with shocks and I doubt they'll sell them separately.

How strong do those mounts need to be? I'm tempted to just cut some steel tube and use that. I don't weld, so cutting would be the limit.

I ran into this too. Luckily a good friend of mine worked at Bilstein and was able to remove these ends (they screw on) and put a set of standard ends on. He had special clamping blocks that held the shaft as he put them into a 12 ton press. Once the shaft was clamped to not rotate, he used a big wrench to remove the ends. Biggest thing is to not score the shafts.

I did this as I wanted to use the outer reinforcement brackets that CPP sells.

Here is what it looked like when done.

That said, I still have the old parts and could test out grinding the rivet off and seeing what is behind the washer, if you like.

Are you running part number 55-R033 ?

They just seem too long? maybe I'm crazy.

I would have to check. I bought these from CPP so it's whatever version they are selling. Bought them 2.5 years ago.

Edit: Looked at CPP site, yes that is the part number.
