6 Lug Wheel Question

Will late model 6 lug wheels fit on a 70 with original 6 lugs?

Re: 6 Lug Wheel Question

Late model 6 lug has a bore of around 80mm, I know the rear hub on my 69 GMC was bigger, didn't even try the front. 16x6.5 wheels, 14mm wheel studs. Would have to get 1/2 or 9/16 wheel studs. Those wheels are what I was trying to fit.

Re: 6 Lug Wheel Question

A friend gave me 4 aftermarket aluminum 8x16 rims off his '99 Suburban. The 6-lug at 5.5'' spacing was the same, but the setback was too shallow. The wheel bore accepted the Dana 44 hubs on my 4x4 K/1500 GMC Jimmy [K/5 type], but I had to buy 1.25'' wheel spacers to mount the new-to-me rims with 235/75/R16 tires.
A weird noise on the freeway, got me to pull those wheels and spacers -- thinking something internal was coming loose. Even though Discount Tire had used 3 different sized lugnuts to mount the tires -- that wasn't the real problem.
My front prop shaft was disintegrating. I had given them 25 all new gold anodized lugnuts, but they were too fat for the recessed holes in the fancy aluminum rims.
So now my fancy lugnuts are holding my old 33x12.50x15 meat tires on at a proper 90 foot pounds.

I think you mean 90 foot pounds.

With respect to the previous posters, your answers are not on topic. a 70 C10 2wd is what I need wheels for.

so any wheels designed for gm larger 6 lug after 1999 will not seat on our hubs, you have to use a spacer..

So then I would have to install longer lug studs?
