Got a itch today and turned to my wide thats 7 months pregnant and said I want to finish the motor and put it in the frame. So this is what we ended up with what a pain did it all on the gravel. But it didn't turn out too bad. Next step wiring and mount all the brakes lines again and driveline.

Good luck getting the headers past the steering box. This would be a great time for an IFS install.

Bought block huggers fits real nice. Use to have a 350 in it before I did the swap fit really nice and didn't hit the steering had about an inch of room. My only issue is the booster and master that are on the frame but mocked the exhaust around it

Yup it's a 5.3 took some time building it and painting it all up

Welded up some holes in the firewall and the holes from the sunvisor screws.

I did some small up grades like different cam to make it so I can run turbos eventually had the heads gone through and arp everything so she will do alright. I wish I had people around me who knew how to do a independent front end swap I already have the front clip just not that smart in that area to do that. But it will do for now just thankful that the wife loves me having these trucks around.

my stock frame has a clip grafted on and honestly these days I think that's a silly way to go. they sell some really great front cross member sets with top of the line suspension for not much more than a subframe would cost. with a subframe there are a lot of things left to chance. when I went to start fitting sheet metal nothing fit. the front of the frame was in the way. I had to rebuild all the front suspension and guess what I have now? brand new 1979 suspension. if I had used a cross member I would have a frame that my sheet metal would love and the suspension and brakes would be far superior to what I have now. I will never sub frame again. its just too cheap and easy to do the cross member these days and get awesome results.

My son sent me this pic of my truck getting the BBW conversion. It's on for a trial fit here but he says he will complete it tomorrow.

I cut some panels out of 18 gauge steel and put them on with 3M panel bond instead of welding. After letting it cure for a day and taking off the clamps, I'm pretty happy with the result. The panels are smooth and flat so finish work should be minimal.

did you cut out the original parts or bond the new parts over the original panel?

Bonded over the existing panels for maximum contact area.

gave the motorcycle a little love today so the truck didn't get much of my time. I DID clean out the bed. I even climbed in and swept it. I work Sunday but a off Monday so I might get out there and solder on the pigtail.

Both

I wouldn't really call it damage, but the firewall had 28 assorted holes ranging in size from 1/4" to over an inch. None were needed anymore because the battery is relocated under the cab, the wiring is hidden, etc... Smoothing the firewall was an easy way to lose the holes and save hours of finish work vs. plugging and welding everything. Plus, I like the look...

are you worried about rust? I'm not familiar with the bonding agent you used so when I saw that you didn't cut and weld my mind immediately went to future hidden rust. is the bonding agent a metal?
