99+ disc rear end for 67-72 trucks

Has anyone or do you know of anyone who has a 99+ style disc brake rear end in their 67-72 model truck. I think this would be ideal since they are strong and have disc brakes so no need to a disc brake kit and you can still retain the 6 lug. Anyone have any info on this?

width is 66" over my 62" rearend. Not only could that give me disc brakes but it would make my front to rear track widths close to even and not have to run staggered wheels. Any recommendation on how id do the brake lines? Ive never messed or adapted brake lines, but have some knowledge of changing them. Id also order CPP rear mount kit to weld the perches on. Thanks guys

Try to get all the lines/hoses with the diff, for pattern....My 02 has 3 hoses on the rear(1 ea end, & 1 in the center). One of the outer hoses was a dealer only deal, but the other 2 came from Oreillys. You may have to adapt the fitting (from the rear line to center hose), to get the proper threads. The other thing I found, is the alum calipers (with age) tend to stick. Save a few bucks & purchase "loaded calipers" on the rebuild.:chevy: best of fun, crazyL

1 more thought....that 99 has 16" wheels . A 15" wheel will probably not fit over the caliper. Again, best of fun playin:chevy: crazyL

do you have this style rear end in your old truck? I guess if all else fails i cant make custom brake lines. Im sure this swap would be cheaper then putting a posi and disc brakes on my stock rear end.

No sir, I have that style rear under my stock 02 silverado? I do know that you are playing with metric fittings tho... too bad you are not closer to my spot in Illinois! I have the calipers(core only), & the lines & hoses & useable rotors. If you were close enough to pick em up, they would be yours for the "takin" (NC). crazyL

Truck 10-bolts come with a Eaton Gov-Loc Posi, Or affectionately known as a Gov-Bomb. Not worth installing in your truck Just to have this happen.........

I didnt know you had that kind of self control;)

Bloodybigblock.....Disc brakes are not worth the work to install a 10-bolt under your truck.

If you got to have Disc brakes, CaptainFab makes some brackets to do that to your 12-bolt, Add a Yukon Dura-Grip posi & your in business.

71/72 diffs are wider & will solve the width issue, Buy a core rear & build it up a little at a time.

Still Gov-Loc, Not quite as easy to break, A real Posi carrier is quite expensive for a 9.5" 14-bolt.
