How to remove steel bed floor?

68 fleetside bed. What is the procedure for removing steel from bed floor? Tried to search but no luck. Converting from steel to wood. Already have new supports, front strip and wood bed rear tailpan. Thank you for suggestions.

If you are talking about removing a spot welded in piece, this "Basics of Basics" should give you everything you need.

NO, I AM REMOVING ENTIRE floor to convert to a wood floor. Does steel floor just butt up to bedsides on inside of bed or does it go under bedsides requiring them to be removed also ? Guess I ll just dive into it and find out. Bed is just in a tight "storage" spot right now and hard to see.

Show some photos, but I am pretty sure it is welded in and that is why I posted the spot weld removal "Basics."

the entire floor unbolts, there are two welds at the rear (two on each side). Slice through them with a die grinder. The bed sides sits on top of & bolts to the edge of the floor as does the front panel. The cross sills under the bed floor are spot welded to the floor.

The pen points to the top weld, the lower weld is to the left of the pen.

I had to remove some weld near the tail gate like in the pic that will let you separate the sides form the floor at the rear.

Ok tks. So the sides do have to come off. That info will definitely get me going for awhile. I ll just leave cross sills attached to nasty steel floor and remove as a unit if possible. Tks again everyone.
