Yes I am happy with how it looks. Next time I might use one of the truck bed liner products to coat and seal the bottom just for cost savings...guessing on that as I haven't done a cost comparison.
Painting or coating over the tar...hmm...I will defer to others for ideas. I would have to remove it I think.
