Perfect Patina 66

So Im not sure if im going about this the wrong way but I wanted to start a build Thread. This isnt my first but I am new at this. Im doing this to #1 show off my truck #2 get feed back and advice from others.

Im David I live in Knoxville TN. I like long walks on the beach, sun sets, and im kidding. I have my full time job and My Father, Brother, and myself own a small custom shop locally. We build out of our garage and normally only do 1 or 2 cars a year. Ive been building for about 25 years. As of today I have a 1960 Belair, 1947 Ford truck, 1950 Willis truck, 1965 Impala, 1968 C10, and the truck Im doing the thread for 1972 GMC LWB. At some point ill post some pics of my other vehicles but Ill focus on the 72 today.

The Truck is a 1972 lwb, inline 6, 3 speed on the column, 2 wheel drive. I purchased it about 3 months ago for $800.00 and drove it home. I chose this truck because I loved the patina and in all it is a solid truck.

Plans:
I want this to be my driver and I want to spend the least $$ I can.
Chevy V8, 350 turbo trans. power steering, power brakes, shorten the frame and original bed. Bags, step notch, 4 link, z the front. relocate the fuel tank, raise the bed, wheels, keep original trim and bumpers. I do want to paint the bumpers and grill tho (Black or White) haven't decided. There are a lot of these trucks so I want to try and make this as unique to me as possible.

As of know I have purchased wheels, bags, step notch, tank, compressors, 4 link, bag mounts.
I have a newer good running 305 and 350 trans, I also have all the parts for the power steering and power brakes. I have a auto steering column also.

So heres some pics of the truck and ill keep posting as i go.

Larry the 66 means nothing. I have a buddy on here and wasn't sure if he would have trouble finding the thread. 66 is kinda my number and i thought he might have an easier time looking it up if it had a # associated with the title. Got some work done on it today ill make a new post tomorrow.

Honestly I use the word shop in the looses form possible. We build out of my fathers garage maybe 3 cars a year at the most. We have a name and Business license for insurance and discounts. My brother and I started to rent a place in Karns about 2 years ago but they wouldn't allow us to put up a paint booth due to the building regulations. My brother paints cars full time at JR. Griffy and we do this on the side. Heres a few others we have built.

So I got a little work done on the truck. Got everything pulled apart and got the frame moved to my house. I also got some of the parts in. Hopefully Ill have everything in by Monday. So far I have the mounts, bags, 4 link, and some small parts in. I have 3 days off starting Tuesday, so hoping I can get some stuff done.

I got little more done today and yesterday, also got some more of the parts in. Can't wait to get things together. I got the frame stripped the rest of the way down and started the Z. I also got my step notch in and tacked together. Got the compressors and tank in. So I pretty much have all the frame parts in and no more excuses. Name:  20161010_135152.jpg

So here is where I hopefully get some advise. I cant decide If i should go with a roll pan on the rear or painted bumpers. It had a big bulky bumper on the back so either way im gonna have to get something. They end up costing about the same. Also I have access to a cowl hood off a 68 C10, The fenders on a GMC are the same as a 67, 68 c10 I would just have to remove a few trim pieces and paint/patina the hood. Should I do this or stick with the original I plan on keeping the side trim and cutting it down to fit a short bed. Last thing I want it to lay the pinch weld and i was thinking of doing a body drop by lowering the cab mounts 3/4 of an inch. My question is can i do this with out interference between the cab floor and frame. Any help would be great thanks in advance.

Maybe its just me, but guys on the forum must not be very receptive to new comers. Its seems like the guys that do the idiot post, where they ask a question before they have even done a search have gotten more responses. But oh well. Got some more done this weekend. Got the z welded and the step notch in. Hopefully I get something back on this when doing the z do you box in the inside or just plate the outside. Heres a few pics.
