What a PITA

Oh yeah I told the boy it won't take too long to swap out my dash pad. Wrong and someone has decided to reorganize my unorganized tools so I can't find the socket I need. That's ok cause pretty sure I wouldn't be able to find the right ratchet or extension. Aaaarregghh

Looks like I tackle it tomorrow night

Easy way is to take out the instrument cluster, glove box liner, and radio. Otherwise you have to have three (long) arms and be a contortionist...

Re: What a PITA

X2. I'm sorry to say it, but I agree with LockDoc. I know it sounds like it will take longer, but it's really easier if you remove the dash and glove box door. Good luck.

On the bright side, it's easier to install than it is to remove. If you have hands the size of a 3 year old

Re: What a PITA

All but one are manageable. From what I remember, The one right above the instrument cluster is really hard to get to! best just remove the cluster.

Re: What a PITA

Definitely no way around removing the cluster which means remembering how to take the headlight switch apart first then unhooking the speedo cable

I guess it just looks like it should be super simple

Dash pads rank as #1 on the top 5 list of most difficult R&R's on these trucks! "I'd rather take a beating!"

Re: What a PITA

Actually if you are replacing everything it's really easy. The far right and left nuts on the back are at different angles.

Re: What a PITA

I sort of like all those neat little slots across the top of the dash with the pad off.
I might fab up a plenum and attach a hose and use those as A/C vents.
