Some places are able to welcome in spring with green grass and the sounds of birds chirping. Unfortunately in Minnesota our grass in frozen under snow and our birds got hypothermia. So I thought it would be fun to see if anyone on here can guess when the snow will be completely melted from my front yard. All you have to do is guess what day and month you think my front yard will be completely rid of snow. Whomever's guess is closest to that day will get the satisfaction of knowing that they can predict the day where I can finally go outside without needing snowshoes.

Here are a few things to help you get a better guess.

1. My front yard faces east.
2. The fence surrounding my yard is 4 ft. tall.
3. For the last few weeks the temps have been around -10°F at night all the way up to the low 40s during the day and everywhere in between.

We actually have four seasons.. almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction.

I can ride mine most of the year normally. I don't feel comfortable in bad weather though

Had to mow the lawn this weekend. Weather peeps keep saying we are going to have a warm summer (warm for us), but we have had record rainfalls this year. Im sure most of you have seen that crazy land slide we had here that has taken so many lives ... too much rain, even for our area.

I picked my date because it was two weeks later and my last spots of snow were all but gone...till it snowed all day today! I'm thinking more like a week later than I said,but I wanted to post an "earliest" date for the heck of it.

We have had a year of extremes. Last summer started wetter than I can recall,then went to a (short) drought. Fall till now has been from above avg to below constantly. Looking back statistics will probably show right on average.

Didn't WA start winter dry with the rest of the coast to the south? I remember seeing where there was no snow for skiing in the Cascades

My dad grew up in Minnesota. He would describe it as "48 weeks of Winter and 4 weeks of lousy sledding.

I think we may have started Spring here finally. So,you guys should be getting yours sometime soon. It hasn't snowed here since Wednesday

. Spring snow,came down all day,didn't stick to pavement,and 1"-2" max. My bid may still stand a chance. I'm pulling for this time next week you get those first twitches of that spring time feeling in your bones (that doesn't mean all the snow will be gone,necessarily)

Well...... Looks like a winter storm warning and up to 12" of snow for this area tomorrow and then a low of 9 tomorrow night. Tough winter!

The snow has been melting a little bit here and there, but as Too Much Stuff stated, we do have a storm heading for us.. This is just for fun so if anyone else wants to put a guess in, feel free to do so.

Funny thing...

It rained off and on Saturday,and even more and steady all day yesterday,which made it feel like spring for sure. Then,not long after I posted,it turned to snow and snowed for hours. The dang plow truck even made a pass! The high was supposed to be about 50 and it ended up being 38. So we got a few inches of slush. Ground's all white again. It just won't quit! I went by a house last night and thought they had turned their Christmas lights on just for fun since they were still up (which I can understand this year). As I got closer I could see they were Easter decorations

So far we haven't gotten any snow, just rain.. which is going to turn to ice tonight... The forecast says we are still supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow tonight. Tomorrow we are supposed to get snow showers with 1-2 inches of snow. After today and tomorrow it is supposed to warm up and get into the low to mid 40s by next week.

... The most Robins I have seen yet were Sunday in our yard, I wore a t-shirt for yard work, ... then Mondays temp went from 71 to 17 in about 7 hrs. ... 50 miles north of us had Tornado and Blizzard warning posted at same time.
So park the snowblower by the hatch to Tornado shelter.? ... goofy weather.
