WTB External Oil Filter Fitting

I am looking for the factory fitting for the 6 cylinder trucks of 1960,1961,1962. The 6 cylinder trucks that had the optional external oil filter had a small cast iron tee that screwed into the motor. I don't have a good picture of one. I am wanting to add an external oil filter to my truck and need this fitting. Let me know what you have. I would be happy to get two if you have them. Thanks

Re: WTB External Oil Filter Fitting

Still trying to find this cast iron tee for the factory external oil filters. Maybe this is another one of those unobtainable items. Any help would be appreciated.

Specific to trucks only or did the cars have this too?

Re: WTB External Oil Filter Fitting

I think it may be determined by where the external filter was added.

I am not entirely sure about the cars, but what I am looking for is specific to the 6 cylinder engines. A lot of cars had v8's. Not all of course

Re: WTB External Oil Filter Fitting

I purchased the lines from Classic Truck Parts in Missouri. The "T" fitting, from other originals I've seen, was just a standard black pipe T. One line to the filter, one line to the oil pressure sending unit. There was multiple different types of filters used (AC, Fram, etc.) , and being a dealer installed option many times, different filters/kits/fittings were used. A black iron pipe T fitting is available at any hardware store. I wouldn't worry too much about a "factory" fitting, as various oil filters and fittings were used, both at the factory and dealerships.

Re: WTB External Oil Filter Fitting

I am not sure I understand all of the posted information. I am including a picture of the small cast fitting I am looking for. It is about 1 1/2 inches long. Looks like something from the plumbing aisle at the old hardware stores, but it is not. I appreciate the help.

Re: WTB External Oil Filter Fitting

You are looking for a brass tee fitting, which can be bought at most NAPA stores. You just need to know what thread size and pitch.

Re: WTB External Oil Filter Fitting

Looks like you need a 1/8" NPT brass tee fitting, from the photos and diagrams above.

Available from any hardware store, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. In either brass or black iron pipe.

Re: WTB External Oil Filter Fitting

Post #14 is correct. The part #444252 details can be found here in the right hand column 444252.

Maybe also of interest is this type of fitting. I used this so that I could keep both the oil gauge and warning light.
