New super-bright LED 194 dash bulbs

Found these on Amazon, ordered a set. I installed one bulb and I literally thought I'd done something wrong, because all the others "went out"... actually the one was just so bright that it made the others look off by comparison!

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'd have to pull my cluster to swap them all, so I can't speak to what it would look like. But the color temp seems OK, or at least appropriate for my dash. I've got a number of clear, blue, and green LEDs in 194 format and didn't care for any of them, and am running stock bulbs.

These might change that though! They are intense. Wish I could find a candle power rating (our stock lamps a 2cd).

I bought these for my trucks dash but haven't installed them yet. Post up some pics when you get yours installed.

I didn't try, sorry! There are a couple of references in the discussion at Amazon to dimming them, so it sounds like it, but I can't say I tried.

Going through some old emails and saw this post. I have installed the dash LED's now and yes, I can dim the dash lights with these installed.

Re: New super-bright LED 194 dash bulbs

I have a set of LED's in the dash as well, though i'm unable to dim them at all so far. Haven't looked into it, just installed and verified they worked.

Re: New super-bright LED 194 dash bulbs

For anyone who is curious, I used the same lights and was able to swap them all without pulling the gauge cluster. I just reached up behind the dash and pulled out all the bulb holders, and put them back in by feel. Really easy, took maybe 5 minutes to do.

I did mine the same way buy can't find one. In the picture, and this is the back of my dash, I can't find the one on the left side of the gray speedo box.

That hole would be where your fiber optic socket is located. There is still a bulb in it but it has a black fiber optic cable attached to the socket that goes to your shift indicator on the upper column.... You remove it the same way as the others.

I'll have to try again to find that last bulb holder. I noticed my gear selector is not lit up either. . Here are the pics of my dash and you can see the dark spot is where that fibre optic thing must be. LED's are bright enough so my old eyes see the gauges clearly but not blinding bright.

Hahahaha I breathe near mine and the cable falls out of the socket!

Its white and on my cluster, it is between the speedo and tach. It is difficult to turn to remove once the socket is locked in.

However though years of patience and understanding I can put the fiber optic cable back in by feel...

So if I am understanding you Leon. The cable goes into the back of a regular bulb holder so i could put an LED in the socket as well if I can find it.

Re: New super-bright LED 194 dash bulbs

I have leds in mine also, undimmable. The led in the fiber optic socket is not bright though. A regular bulb is brighter there. Ive just grown used to it being dimmer than the rest of the leds. I also put leds in the ac controller panel too. Its much brighter now.

While we are talking I have got a lot of compliments on the P01"s you refurbished and sold to me a few years ago. Your work is appreciated. I guess maybe I'l just put a 168 bulb instead of the regular 194 bulb if I cant the LED in there. I have the LED bulbs for my HVAC controls too but with my ape hands cant get at the bulb holder ( towards drivers side ) to remove it.

Thank you. I probably should have kept those for my truck...but ill do another set in the future. Watching a few sets on ebay now. Masking those is a pain! Both of the ac bulb holders are a pain, but look good done.

Keith if you go to Post #10 in this thread the back of my dash is pictured and its the socket just to the left of the grey speedo bob on the right sid eof the dash.

Post # 13 has pics of my LED"s at night from last night actually and yes they dim.

P01 is the RPO Code for the deluxe hubcaps/wheel covers that were offered on the trucks and they are oftened referred to by that code. Pic attached.

Yes, the bulb holder is a different configuration but it locks in the same as the rest. You can replace it with a regular bulb holder if you want.
